The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi all. And especially lovely Vinnie..

Just got morning shopping done and put away for another week, odd shortage of things odd tinned meats, and of course toilet rolls. Everything else fine plenty in. Got a lovely ham joint for tomorrow dinner. And some tripe for my tea. Bren doesn't like it but plenty in she does..

Hope you haven't murdered anyone yet. And hope you're all well as can be..

Love to you all..... Billy xxxxxxx

  • Hi Billay and all,

Ahhhhh tripe, that takes me back.  My mother used to make it for my father, I can remember coming in from school and you could smell it as soon as you opened the door. And that was quite a distance, we lived in a tenement and the lobby (hall but pronounced low bi) was long with kitchen / dining / sitting room at end.  We'd be ever so trendy now with our kitchen / dinner / family space lol.  I've never even tasted tripe, couldn't stand smell, perhaps I've been missing out on a treat all these years.  I did used to enjoy liver and onions. And didn't taste haggis until I was in my 40's.   Sorry for rambling, isn't it amazing how some things set you off and the years just melt away.

    Take care everyone, stay safe

    Sending kindest thoughts to all

    Christine x

  • Sorry,  should start Hi Billy and all,

  • Hi everyone,

Hope you are all keeping safe!

Dizzle how cute is that little boy?? Thank you for the photos. I am sure whatever happens will be for the best. You have to do what’s right for you but a differcult situation big hugs.

Can safely say this week panic buying has stopped. In fact think because everyone has everything been quite quiet. Does seem strange only have a maximum of 60 customers in at a time. Although have felt safer this week with less in. Can’t believe it’s Easter next week going to a very strange one.

    Hugs to you all xx

  • Hi Christine.

My mother usto own her own butchers shop snd mum insisted i tried everything. But alot of things you can't get now.

Mums tripe was cooked in milk and water with chopped onions plenty of pepper and spices.

Still remember the brains, and chitligs even though you can't get them now.

I've noticed alot of things aren't made the same way nowadays don't taste anything like they did. Sorry I'm rambling now, thinking of those lovely tastes.

Love Billy xxx and to all the people on here.

P.s never tried eyes thought that was a bit to far.

  • Wow Billy and Christine. My dad cooked it exactly the same way Billy but like u Christine I've not tried it lol.

dear knows why not cos I'll usually try owt lol x

  • Lol just talking about this with my daughters the other day lol. Luckily none of us are high maintenance. Don't get nails done or makeup by beautician, no hair colours. We do get our hair cut though usually every 6 wks for me. Due in 2 wks eeek. By the time I come out of this I'll look like Rapunzels older sister... what... yes ... older sister

  • Glad it's calming down for you lass ... take those deep breaths while u can and look after yourself x
