The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • I joined this forum last night and posted a topic 'Lumpectomy or mascectomy'

I was encouraged to read this thread which I'm making my way through now... There's a lot to read.

Whilst reading I smiled at the good but found myself bursting in to tears too. I feel vulnerable and scared and denying it is getting harder and harder. I feel quite alone with it all but that's because I'm not reaching out. Not wanting to make a 'thing' out of it.

Im really early stages but have three family members that have had the same as me. Two have passed away and my mum, who originally had a lumpectomy ended up needing a double mastectomy and chemo which mealy killed and they had to stop the treatment when she went on to a coma. She's OK now thank god.

My experience of this disease are all quite full on and horrendous so it's refreshing to read some positive stuff.

Im scared.. That's a fact. Scared of the unknown I guess.?

    Bad: this disease is crap

Good: I'm off to Thailand on the 16th April to spend a month with my daughter who's a diving instructor and lives in Koh Tao. It's beautiful there and she's my world.

One love ladies. So glad I joined this forum

  • Hey Dizzle- a wedding is a paper. The true commitment is in the heart and Jamie is committed and so are you therefore that's marriage. You've now got a miracle bump to cement that commitment further - to me these are the most important reality factors. Who is to say you won't have your dream wedding? It will one day. You've come a long way - on your own - which is admirable and we are very proud of you.

Hey Ms May. This forum is a godsend. We are all here to support. One thing I've learned is everyone reacts differently to every stage of this journey. One day at a time and big virtual hug. I also have 2 members of immediate family with cancer but we've all reacted differently with breast cancer. Science and research has advanced so much and more and more people are surviving so hang in there. You got this.

Ladies hope all is well and enjoy your day.

  • Hello ladies,

Glad that some good things are happening in your lifes.

Unfortunately my boyfriend is not so well and I'm struggling with a doubt, and perhaps you could help me with some advice.

This week on Monday my boyfriend was hospitalised due to vomiting blood and it appears he is in his final days. I was a bit anxious, so on Wednesday I came to his city to visit him and help to support his parents. On Monday doctors said he could live like 4 or 5 days, but he is now on the 6th day of admission... I have been helping every single day, because most people can't stand much time in his hospital bedroom (it's too painful) but me and his mum are handling. Today is Sunday and I must decide if I go back to my city to work tomorrow or if I stay here.

He's almost not responsive anymore, with oxygen tubes, difficulty to pee (he's on diapers), fevers, cannot eat, cannot talk or communicate, sleeps 90% of the time due to the drugs for the pain. I don't know if I should stay here (it's like waiting for him to die) but if I go to work I don't feel fine either because I don't have almost no work (my boss doenst give me tasks and it's my last week at the job anyway, I'll be there looking to the ceiling pretending I'm working most of the time)... What should I do?

  • Hi so sorry t b reading this unfortunately this must b your own decision( difficult though it is). You are still between a rock and a hard place. It’s not that I don’t want t help you just can’t advise.

I am however sending my tightest of virtual hugs and saying whatever you choose t do I support you ️ X
