The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Just had the letter that the surgeon sent doctor.....I had a mucinous carcinoma which was ER + PR+ and HER 2 neg ( but for some reason it needs retest)  now what all this actually means I have no idea but when you read it in black and white it all sounds so real and scary.......

Also just want to say what a lovely group of ladies you are....thank you all for being here....xxxx

  • I know what you mean about these letters. I am not someone who needs to know all the ins and outs of things so it is a little scarey but I am sure it is not as scarey as it sounds.

Chin up it is gone now!!

  • Gosh, what a good reply...my surgeon also didn't know why it was being retested, she said it's rare for it to go from neg to pos ( although not unheard of) so of course I went into silly mode and imagined all sorts...then gave myself a smack and shake and put my mrs sensible hat back on.....it is what it is....just got to crack on.....

Hope things are going forwards with you lovely lady xx

  • Having had a sudden lack of any appointments (which was really quite disconcerting when I thought I was starting chemo soon) I have one tomorrow which I believe is to discuss further surgery.  I've updated on my own post rather than on here.

  • Ah thank you so much LJ your posts are always so helpful and informative ️ Wish I could have had you sitting next to me when I was first  diagnosed so after every sentence you could say.....what he is actually saying and telling you is....   Thanks so much lass...hope your treatment starts soon. You are a lot of people’s rock on here while fighting your own fight. We know this and we are grateful x

  • Hi dragonfly

good :- my twine has arrived..  can’t remember why I wanted or needed it lol.... but it’s arrived so ... gotta b good right  ...... opened package nd thought why....checked eBay and yup there in black nd white that I’d ordered 6wks ago...\o/ oh well :-)

been binge watching numerous period dramas- austin, Gaskell etc. Decided I def would not have wanted t live in them days.... I would have been a scullery maid if I was lucky. What a thankless soul destroying downtrodden existence most people had. But.... I don’t and I’m not so .... good times eh lol .

  • Hi ladies,

Phew, lots of activity and new ladies on here it's hard to keep up. Welcome to everyone new. You've come to the right place for support.

So I started radiotherapy again today. Weren't sure whether they were going to do it as my skin is so stretched and damaged from the infection but they were happy to go ahead. Just have to take antibiotics throughout to keep infection at bay. 11 more sessions to go. If infection does occur they will just take the implant out which I'm not bothered about...not like I got a wedding dress to look good in anymore. I have lost a stone though through all the stress so every cloud lol. Jamie continues to be fab and supportive. We are going on a date tomorrow night to a nice restaurant which will be nice. Still taking things very slowly but it works for me. Am liking being able to jump in the bath at stupid o clock and just having a snack for tea instead of a full blown meal. All in all life is pretty good...apart from the obvious C word.... I got a smile on my face:-)

Hope all you ladies are doing well and life is treating you good

    Xx

  • So glad the treatment has started again lass enjoy yr date night with Jamie tonight oh er mrs

so glad things are on the up ️X
