The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi Alison and a warm welcome to the thread :-)

Off the top of my head....As Rileyroo mentions Chrissy had mastectomy as did [@Jolamine]‍, [@Dizzle82]‍ and mrsfingers ( who has already commented.

Although I had lumpectomy and node removal... I too had numbness on my under arm and especially by my node removal scar ( mrsfingers mentioned this too). My tingling and numbness subsided over time. I’m just over a year and my node scar has a weird feel when I touch it ... not quite numb but not quite full feeling. It’s not a problem cos I have little reason to touch other than curiosity lol. Mrsfingers is right the nerves can b damaged but usually recover.  Hope yours does too :-) I like to say -  how well are u doing lass :-) you have been through a lot well done lass. You will get there.

ah the playhouse.... it’s been up coming on 4 yrs now and can confirm .... it never gets old for the little ones.... only last night 2 of their friends came to play after tea and all 4 went straight to play in the play house and stayed there till it was home time :-) it’s at the bottom of a pretty long garden so from day one a WiFi camera was put in...makes it easier to have a quick look to see all is well with everyone.  The lil ones are 3 and 5 and have played in it from very young. Gotta watch when boys come cos they are more apt to climb when out on outside balcony.... girls don’t seem to do this lol.

I’m sure your lil ones will get as much joy out of one too x

  • Bless dragonfly... gotta b honest could almost see a perfect storm brewing. You should be getting all the love, time, affection and the looking after but sadly you have been double whammyed in the unexpected stakes.

Not to get away to warmer climes while waiting for your next step .... sigh.... gutted must be gross understatement!

Hang in there lass. Walk away for a bit of u time if you can. I could almost touch the feeling of your batteries depleting in your earlier posts :-(

hope things pick up nd hubby gets better soon.

    thinking of u ️ X

  • Mrsfingers... what an inspirational trooper u are.

Bless the bone pain... I had for 1 st couple of weeks when starting letrozole... struggled walking up stairs..all bent over practically going up on all fours. And every step feeling like my feet were bruised when walking.. nd that was just the letrozole. Light at end of tunnel for me was I was told these symptoms often clear up after a coupled wks ... and like magic I woke one morning and felt .... fine ... stunned and delighted :-)

yours.... bless I can only imagine because your treatment.... well is 10 times more potent than I was taking. Your light... has to b after this 1 more treatment and done. Heartfelt gentle hugs sent your way lass. Yup trooper. Good luck for today and hang in there nearly done ️

  • Aw beach I love to read your updates. The best of happy beginnings is your story. Hope for the many who find a lump that it can be non cancer.

You keep up that positive vibe lass... we all need to hear the good from good people ️ X

are u back from your jollies yet. Hope you are recharged and relaxed lass ️

  • Morning peeps

    bad :- none yay

good :- chilly but at least not freezing like yesterday. Think my repetitive strain ( from too much knitting) has cleared ... well worth the migration to other crafts lol.

Need China t get tha finger out nd get me styrofoam eggs to is ;-)

not watched the cold feet episode beach.. got t b on one of the multitude of streaming devices I have lol.

I have gone through 250 tea light candles since November... 250. Reckon that’s more than Hogwarts gets through. I mean I like a twinkling light but 250 lol

have as good a day as u can peeps x

  • Just had the letter that the surgeon sent doctor.....I had a mucinous carcinoma which was ER + PR+ and HER 2 neg ( but for some reason it needs retest)  now what all this actually means I have no idea but when you read it in black and white it all sounds so real and scary.......

Also just want to say what a lovely group of ladies you are....thank you all for being here....xxxx

  • I know what you mean about these letters. I am not someone who needs to know all the ins and outs of things so it is a little scarey but I am sure it is not as scarey as it sounds.

Chin up it is gone now!!

  • Sometimes I think ignorance is bliss! I was silly and ventured onto dr google but soon shut the laptop lid...it made me go cross eyed!

Yes, chin is up...chest out and soldiering on! Xxx

  • Hi there Sandra ...

Yep home from the xmas with Mickey mouse ... he sends his regards lol ...

Treating myself to a mobility scooter ..just for long journeys .... as it was lovely to go round the parks in one and not end up with pain .. my son says he's buying me a hooter for it, so I don't run anyone over .. crashed in to a iron pillar at one park, when a toddler ran in front ... been fine driving for 40 odd years .. and crash a mobility scooter lol ...

Well you know, your photo reminds me of the fairy godmother, in Cinderella.... you look like I imagined .. and here you are , godmother to so many ... bet you didn't think that a few years ago .. and a fairy grandmother to boot ...

    Cancer sucks ... but let's keep kicking it's *** ... Chrissie x
