The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Sorry ladies, been rubbish of late. Busy busy. Just catching up on people's posts. Hope your scan results are ok WQ. Everything crossed. You lot are always I  my thoughts x

  • Well was in with surgeon for about 5 mins ! Nothing round my ribs but scan showed some damage to lower back and right knee. He thinks it's just wear and tear but I had x ray in back just in case. So more waiting for results again!

Many thanks for everyone's best wishes.

    WQ xx

  • Glad to hear there was nothing untoward WQ. I still get pain in my ribs and find it hard to sleep or touch that side even tho it has been 19 months since treatment. This recovery is going to take ages and I just try to enjoy my day to the fullest even if I pop a few painkillers. Glad they're doing a back scan as it is alot of wear and tear plus the stress our bodies go thru.

Try to relax and to me having a pet scan was my biggest reassurance as it detects any cancer cell in the body so none were found and that made me feel unfearful that cancer has returned. Bone and joint damage and wear and tear is just a part of life now. My fatigue still hits but it has also just become a part of my life. I just try not to think about it and handle whatever comes along.

It's a tough road we are on. But we are on it together. We go thru diagnosis, op, treatment and side effects then our bodies decide to give us more problems and Yes, it's very tiring mentally as well as physically but we are here and I am going to live this life with alot of laughing and being a sexy mama!

  • [[ ]]Evening Ladies just been having a catch up on what has been happening! So much going on. Sending you all a big hug.

The Good- being back on here

The bad- IHave put a photo on to show you I have had what they think is a cyst come up on the bridge of my nose. Photo taken a week ago but it’s bigger now. Finally plucked up courage to go to doctors who said she is convinced it’s a cyst as can be moved and feels fluid like but smooth.  I had a small cyst there for years but over last two weeks it has tripled in size and can see it clearly. People keep asking if I had hit my nose which makes me more aware of it. Fingers crossed hospital appointment will come through soon. Was warned could be a wait though. Just feel my body letting me down this year x

  • Well aren't you a sexy mama!

Yes the body is a let down. No doubt about it - something new every week/month.

Hope it gets sorted quickly beachbabe.

  • Lol thank you Jbains! Think it’s a reality check of last few months of being in my 40’s! Posted it then felt bad after all you all been through it’s a small thing really.

  • Well life seems to be quite normal for now.....as normal as it gets for me anyway!

Good hubby might let me have a new caving suit for Christmas (pretty royal blue) cut especially for women!

Bad got sent on a wild goose chase today half way up a mountain to find a patient who turned out not to be on my patch!!!!

How's everyone else doing, is life getting more normal?  The only thing I want from my breast nurse now is this moving on after cancer course and a date for my next check.

Oh and has anyone any ideas about remedies for osteoporosis arthritis? One of my friends has suggested tumeric capsules! :.)
