The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • [@Jbains]‍ has had a pet scan recently.

  • Hi WQ - yes i had to have a radioactive injection at 10am and my scan was a few hours later. The dye shows any irregular cells and scarring - including cancer cells. Sorry but I don't remember anything so forgive me but didn't you recently have your op? It may well be that the scarring will show up on the scan so it may be difficult to see the bone density clearly at surgery site. I'm no doctor but it's just something I read and what my brother-in-law who has cancer was told.

I was 17 months post treatment when I had my scan and even then there was scarring from radiation treatment. The main concern to me was the return. No cancer cells showed up so to me that was the greatest reassurance. There's no guarantee it won't come back but I feel satisfied that I am cancer free for now.

I had the scan and then had to wait for my follow up appt with consultant to get the results and that was an agonising wait. I hope it goes ok and the pain subsides.

Hope the rest of you ladies are ok.
