The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Thanks for everyone's kind words. It's such a relief just having a date through.

Bad....nothing yet as I'm still in bed and that can only be a good thing. I spose the ct scan I have at 11.40 today can be classed as the only bad thing but still good in a way as it's a step  closer to knowing if anything else is going on.

Good....date day with Jamie. Shopping trip, ct scan, then lunch then out to fully celebrate end of chemo and Jamie leaving his job. His new one as a Paramedic starts Monday :-) I was always was, but I will now officially always be in safe hands lol.

Have a great day everyone xx

  • Good luck with the ct scan today dizzle and enjoy your shopping trip and lunch. Definately in safe hands hun.

Liliana you are a very busy lady who has been through a lot. It takes it's toll on your body and the tiredness confess from that. Make sure in your down time that you give yourself a chance to rest.

    Enjoy your day everyone x

  • Liliana I am almost 18 months post treatment and tiredness is my middle name! I'm afraid it's something I've just learned to live with. I've tried everything possible that's been suggested to me - supplements, exercise, rest, diet, etc. My blood work comes back that I'm healthy as a horse so breast care consultant said exactly what rileyroo said.

Keep going and it will get better. Just try to rest when you are tired which is hard when you have bills to pay. You're doing great - I was exhausted just reading all you're doing!

    Enjoy Dizzle.

Enjoy your day ladies. Keep warm as the cold weather is coming!

  • Hope scan goes welll Dizzle. Enjoy your shopping and lunch.

Liliana. I’d heard radiotherapy makes you tired so hang in there. It will settle irself and try to rest when you can. I thought with my RT being internal and specifically directed over just three sessions I wouldnt feel tired. It doesn’t mention it as a side effect for brachytherapy. But by golly it does make you tired and lacking in energy. My radiotherapist says anything that affects good cells which need to repair themselves will make you tired because the energy to rebuild has to come from somewhere. I’m also experiencing very high blood sugar levels. (I’m type1 diabetic) which also no one told me to expect. When I queried it I was told to see my diabetes specialist. Well the only person I ever deal with for my diabetes is a nurse at my gp surgery who is there only on a Tuesday morning. So it’s deal with it yourself time. At the start of treatment, I did ask my gp if I could be referred back to the hospital where the majority diabetics with type 1 go but was told as my last blood tests were good I didn’t need to. He couldn’t grasp the fact that all the treatment I’ve been undergoing would have an effect. His answer was well if your cancer specialist thinks you should see a diabetes specialist then let them sort it out. Trouble is my oncologist is at a different hospital.  Moan over.

    Good

Sun is shining. Last RT on Tuesday. Holiday in three weeks.

  • Sandra , yes  I have only stopped working about three days or four after my surgery. But I think all the effort I’ve done to continue to work and do everything is catching up on me. I am exhausted, I say speak I’m sitting in my couch and I feel so tired I can’t even get up from the couch and I have to get ready to meet a client at 1 PM oh my God .  How I am going to get over these exhaustion. I take vitamins I’m trying to eat good but nothing is helping. I think I have over done it and my body it’s asking for a long rest but I don’t have time for that. Any magic potion anybody has??

    Xoxo

    Liliana

  • Good have had fun muscling in on the boys fun of flying remote control scale model airplanes, had a lesson today with my lovely holiday hotel owner Spiros! Only woman on airfield how very dare I lol!

    Bad nothing at moment!

    WQ xx

  • Bless Liliana I’m not surprised u r feeling the way you do.... most people do and they have not continued working all the way through as u have.

Not a doctor but I think it is just time that is needed for you to get better. Your body has been through a lot with anaesthetic, radiotherapy as well as all the anxiety nd stress. All this takes a toll.

I know you need to work to earn money to live. So the best you can do is rest your body whenever u can. Leave the housework and any other chores you can - they can wait.  As you begin to recoup do what you can when you feel able. Have early nights... take a cuppa to bed and lie in bed and read if you don’t feel like sleeping. Let your body sink into that mattress and let the weariness melt out of your body.

If you have friends or family near by- ask for help. Get them to do your shopping, your laundry, to cook some meals for you so you don’t have to when u get in from work.

    Try meditaion (YouTube some techniques).

Importantly- be kind to yourself. You Have been through a lot....mostly on your own. You have been amazing.... do one more amazing thing-don’t  b hard on yourself.

We are here and we know how you are feeling, and we understand. ️. X

  • Lol you show em WQ.

Finished watching reverie ... brill recommendation thanx - throughly enjoyed :-)

keep up the enjoyment stakes...you’ve earned every min x

Load of stuff arrived from the next sale ( mostly for the lil ones) so waiting on daughter coming to say yay or nay to what we keep nd what gets returned. I have done well no coats were purchased for me this time lol :-).
