The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Ooh that's a good hike. Other half suggested a walk in the forest tomorrow.....thought it would be too much too soon so the cinema it is lol

  • Evening all

Great to see everyone getting back into the swing of things. Swimming and walking all good stuff, well done everyone.

Warrior you stand up for yourself in true Amazon style. Absolutely right that they owe you a duty of care and should be able to see that two days at work then a day off then two days in and two off is going to help you and them both. You deserve to feel fit for work but  also they are going to get a better days work from you if you feel fit. It’s just common sense.

  • Woo hoo - go Cornish!! That's really great.

I walked 4 miles on Friday- legs sure felt it! I walk up to an hour everyday getting to work but used to do extra at home. Haven't been doing that so that's why i did a bit extra yesterday. Every little helps. We all find our little ways to keep ourselves healthy and well.

I'm not moving tomorrow. Sofa, blanket and film are in order!

  •  Hello friends, I have been away a little bit but I  don’t forget you guys. I am done with my radiation started on anastrozole and I’m feeling really really tired I’ve been on the  medication for about a week and I’m feeling extremely tired which is one of the side effects but could also be my rheumatoid arthritis medicine or a combination of both. I am having a very hard time working functioning even if I sleep enough I’m always tired. I found this comparison chart and I wanted to bring it to you guys .  If somebody can add anything or any side effects to any of these would be good I’m taking Arimidex .

I’m going to post the link and if it’s not permitted I hope you guys excuse me in the moderators will probably take it away but I’m not sure if we can post links from other websites here

Tonight I’m going to try to go out with my friends dancing, I haven’t done that in a very long time and even though I’m tired I think it’s time for me to have a little fun.

I have to come back early because I have to show homes tomorrow. I can’t respond to everybody but I’ve been reading everybody’s posts and I’m sending a big hug everybody stay well and take care of yourselves and I will catch you during the week

    hugs

  • Great to hear everyone is doing lots of exercise.

I'm off on a walk tomorrow through forests and a bit of scrambling through abandoned railway tunnels to a waterfall near Brecon.

Had some retail therapy exercise today and have a silly pretty pair of high wedge sandals with a nautical theme for holiday! Just 2 weeks and I'm in Corfu!

Thanks for words of support about work. They almost instantly forget what you've been through once your back!

  • Hello Liliana,

Sorry to interrupt the flow of this lovely thread. I just wanted to reassure you it is totally fine for you to post this link, it looks like a reputable website!

It must be really hard for you to function at work especially as it looks like you work in a very fast-paced environment so it must be really exhausting. I thought I'd also add this link to our page on side effects of arimidex (also known as anastrazole, the names of these drugs are often a mouthful aren't they?). Tiredness or fatigue seems to be a common side effect and happens in up to 2 out of 10 women (20%). I hope you haven't been affected by any of the other side effects mentioned? It might be worth mentioning this to your medical team as they may be able to have some good tips or prescribe something to help you cope with the side effects especially as they are having an impact on your daily life. Someone else here may also have experienced similar side effects and I hope they'll have some suggestions for you.

Hope things improve for you soon and that you are not too tired today after showing all these homes!

  • Jbains , that’s wonderful!!! 4 Miles is a lot! Well done .  I started walking and I had to stop because my right knee it’s hurting and then I started getting tired because of the anastrozole in my RA pills. I should start again next week will see keep up the good work I’m proud of you .

  • Thank you Lucie. Of all the side effects I am re-reading and now I’m realizing aside from the tiredness I’ve been having bad headaches and I didn’t know why because I usually never get headaches.  I only have dogs or temporary because they get really bad they start mile in the morning and they get really bad at night. Thank you for the link ,that is a wonderful link that you posted .

  • Hey Sandra- you'll be ok. It's a bit nervy when that first mammo date is near. Remember what a basket case I was??!

We be right there with you.

It's such a nice day down here in Kent. Just went for your long walk with daughter. Nap time!

Thank you liliana. I've got arthritis in the right knee which has been really hurting and my feet so my answer is always more exercise and keep moving. I want to lose 20 more pounds and will be sexy babe then!! I've actually got 4 inches on my waist extra since i was 25. Not bad going as am 51 now. It was alot more before I got cancer. Very easy to put weight on. Very very hard to lose it.

Enjoy your day ladies as well as you can.xx
