The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

lovely to hear u r grabbing life with both hands lass. Eeeee coming up 50 eh .... ah I vaguely remember it well :-) x

  • Afternoon peeps:-)

The bad - the farmer had been out spraying the fields... oh my the stench yuuuuuk! No doors or windows will be opened today!

ebay... what has happened to eBay? Pays u to check amazon cos more often than not cheaper on there. My twig tree has arrived but has less twigs on it than the picture on eBay depicts....sigh. The foibles of online shopping eh.

The good - wine.... wine is good!

said twig tree looks ok despite not the same as the pics! In reality goes really well with my decor ( do people still use the words decor?!?) anywhose I do now need some different baubles for it nd the ratten basket I stood my potted tree in is under debate with me nd daughter (is it too big or... not).  If it is too big want something quirky ..... love to hear some ideas if you have any lasses. Considering a panettone tin with a traditional Xmas scene on...would have t eat cake first lol.

Anywhose have a goodin peeps x

  • Good just cooked nice griddled gammon, courgettes and tomatoes with potato and butter bean crush!

  • Morning peeps

    mmm WQ sounds delish :-)

bad :- still reallllly smelly here off sprayed fields.. yuck. No washing done today then .... can’t peg it out with that smell in the air.

good :- although daughter planned trip to the cove where the cliff collapsed- she wasn’t there phew. Think there are still some people missing...hope they are found alive nd well.

Other daughter off work today so plan is hairdresser for me, walk the dog nd shops nd food later with daughter :-) we will also trawl internet for something to use as a base for my twig tree. Got a large industrial oil pouring can in garden thought about using that... just too small for tree t stand in... sigh

Hope u had a lovely day with your meet up sundail.

    Enjoy ya day peeps x

  • Afternoon all

    Good

Great day in London with Caggie68 yesterday. Brilliant show, good company and a leisurely meal,

    Bad

Today sore and aches because of lots of walking yesterday. Lol. But definitely worth it.

    Sundial

  • Good saw new predator movie which was hillariosly bad but fun.

Bad work are taking p! Meant to be doing four days next week as in having Wednesday off for rest but they are insisting I do Mon to Thurs! Not impressed.

  • Stand your ground. If you feel too tired call in sick. You didn't beat all you did to have work stress make you ill. No job is worth it. They owe you a duty of care to establish a work pattern that suits you. Everyone reacts differently to treatment and recovers differently so they can't do a  tick box exercise and dictate to you how you should work. Sorry - it just angers me so much!

Try it the first week - if it's too much change it.

You are the one who's going to suffer so stand up for yourself.

  • Hi warrior. They have a duty towards you with your work pattern and if you need yo have Wednesdays as a rest day in order to work the remaining 2 days then they should not be messing about with it. When you went back did they agree your work pattern and was this in writing? Mine did, and we agreed that it is for continuous review....ie if I'm not coping we could change it. I'm now going to be full time from Monday  (which I'm pleased about as it feels like some normality). However my manager has said that if I need to leave before 5 some days it's not a problem. Seriously hun they cant change your pattern to suit them if it means you can't cope.

Ladies I'm feeling good today. I went lane swimming for the first time since this all began and managed 60 lengths in an hour (not Olympic sized pool). Am pleased with this as I thought I'd find it harder. I used to swim for 2 hours solid but no way could I do that at the moment. Knackered now lol. Healthy eating is going great....im really focused and have now lost 16lbs. Next weigh in is Monday so hoping for more.

As always my biggest thanks to you all for your support last week when I was not doing great.

Tomorrow I'm going to the cinema with little legs and my beau so it will have been a good weekend. Hope you are all doing ok x

  • Whay, good for you Cornish! A little bit more each time as long as your energy levels are good, if not do what you can. It’s not always a constant upward pointing line.

I’ve started walking again to try and get some fitness back. We did a six mile ramble around town on Thursday evening followed by tea in a pub. Ying and yang?! I’m doing the route planning for the next one on Monday with a friend from work. No pub this time tho.
