The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Morning all

Hooe everyone finds their good place today both mentally and physically.

    Big congrats Cornish.

    Good

Had another good night’s sleep last night despite heat. Finally had two fans on and they cooled the room right down. Now sitting in my nightie in front of our new Dyson fan. Cost a fortune but it has kept us cool all through this horrid weather.... well as long as we stay in the lounge. Lol.

    Bad

Too hot to do anything even walk down the garden. Trying to walk round a bit cos no compression stockings this time. Yay. Still on blood thinning jabs for another 25 days :-( I am hating this hot weather with a-vengeance :-( :-(.

    Virtual hand squeezes all round.

  • Evening ladies! Phew it’s been a hot one today! Thankfully day off so been at beach. It’s not so quiet down there now children have broken up from school but still a good place to get your head straight! Oh dear some of the sights though!! Will leave that to your imaginations....

The good- head clearer and feel a lot calmer

    The bad- lump still there

    stay cool ladies xx

  • Jbains is on her holibobs! West coast of the US of A!

  • Hi !! I know I have been absent from the site for a little while. I have been busy with work and Dr's appointments.

I had to go get my slides from the pathologist, because (I think I mentioned this before , but , just in case, ) in the intraoperative report stated that 4 of the lymph nodes had metastatic  but the final report said all 15 where clear... so even though my  surgeon spoke to the pathologist and told him and assured him it was a typo error, I told my DR I want it a second opinion. I took the slides and the 2nd opinion pathologist wasn't there until next week because he is on vacation, there was another pathologist there and off the record, offer to look at them and agree that all where clear, but we have to wait for the formal report.

Yesterday was my appointment with the oncologist radiologist, I got my ct, and markings, however, here is a question for all of you: aren't they suppose to mark the site where the tumor was? because I only got 3 dots one on the side of my body one on the center on my stomach and one on my right side, 3 sharpies,  on my upper chest, one on my chest on the middle of my boobs and one on the side. nothing where my tumor was. so with that, I'm thinking I'm going to get the radiation on all of my boob? chest?

They told me it was just going to be where the tumor was? but it does not seem like it? what do you guys think?

Maybe that's how it is, I don't know...

Gosh... I hate not knowing... I have been trying to read about it but found nothing to clarify this. Your input is appreciated.

I'm always thinking of you guys, even if I'm not writing often, I promise I will try harder, Sending a big hug, Congrats Cornish!!! Grandkids are such a blessing, I have 6 my self. all ages 2 are 17, then 12,

11,10, and 8 years old!!!Love them to death.

    Thank you , Hugs,

  • Good you’re feeling stronger and clearer Beach. Let’s hope it gets sorted soon. Beach and sea sounds lovely but as I live in the midlands as far away from any coas as you can be in England , not an option for me. :-(

  • Beachbabe you certainly live up to your name with all the time you spend at the beach. I'd love it!

Liliana I had whole breast radiation and they put dots each of my side's and one on the chest between boobs. And sounds like good news on the lymph node front... I know you got to wait for it to be official.. .but happy days!

Sundial.....two fans lol! Plus a Dyson one.....must be like a hurricane in your house lol....keep your feet up and slowly recover.

Jbains in the US.....slightly envious lol.

Sandra...glad Mr lamp has returned to you....i know you are smitten.

Thank you for all the congratulations. This will be grandbaby number 4 and fingers crossed all will be well this time. X

  • The dots are for the radiotherapist to line the machine up on, not where is going to be treated.

  • Good house on the market and had first viewing same day!

Bad, don’t think they’ll buy but oh well, early days.

  • Wow viewing same day is good. Fingers crossed you will get plenty of interest and a few offers on the table soon.

  • Certainly hope so. We aren’t the tidiest of families and trying to keep this place tidy could be a challenge.
