The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Thanks for the input ladies. You lot offer such an overwhelming suport on here. So glad I was invited to join back in May :-)

Tiger, I love the thing about chargers and drains. My so called family are most definitely the latter. Your sister will have herself to live with if god forbid anything happens to your dad. My younger sister like yours is a huge drain, dont ever have a how are you message but quick enough to text when she wants to lend a few quid. Well that stops now as im done. I also believe Karma so god help them when it catches up!

Jbains, our situations sound similar. I was close to my older sister and my younger sister was the outcast but since my diagnoses its gone the other way and im the outcast. My older sister has turned into a complete b*tch. I sent her a pic of me and jamie after our brave the shave and she text saying i looked nice but jamie looked horrible. Not a well done to jamie for showing you such support and raising £945...just horrible negative things to say. I went mad at her and we havent spoken since. Its no big loss. They are obviously still enjoying having a fab time all together so i'll let them get on with it. They even lied about going to Jayz and Beyonce in london not mentioning they were going together. Then I see pics all over instagram of them having a great time. I never got an invite depsite them knowing id have loved it and probably would have been a welcome distraction just before my treatments started but no. They are just thoughtless!

Just like Sandra says......stick em and im going to. Done with them all now. Need to concentrate on myself. Even my exes Mother came down from Birmingham to go to a chemo seminar and wig fitting with me but no sign of my own Mum. She didnt even visit me in hospital as she said she didnt wanna catch anything! Erm thats what the gowns and masks were for! If that was my Grace I wouldnt care if I had to wear a Mr Blobby suit to see her. Still, says more about that lot than me. Sorry, this must be rant Sunday lol. Nice to get it off my chest though and I know if anyone understands....its you lot xx

  • We've all got each other - scr** the rest to put it bluntly!

What you did - brave the shave is extremely formidable. You rock! Scr** all the negative sh**s. My whole family has disappeared whom i've supported unconditionally no matter what was going on in my life.  But you know, I'm glad. No more drama or giving my time because that's one thing we will never get back. We have each other's back and that's what matters. Get thru treatment ladies then deal with these feelings. You are number one ALWAYS. Onwards and upwards. We've got each other's backs.

  • I've found similar thing happening with my brother's - one is always wanting to know how things are going the other after the initial shock reaction has distanced himself.

Good only six shots of radiotherapy left?

Bad ouch been bitten by horsefly on left elbow which is now swollen and painful. Am on high dose antibiocs and antihistamines and have just added pain killer!

Still very minor moan compared to the amazing women battling through treatment on the forum! xx
