The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • I loved LA when I visited the Chinese Theatre and original Disney. Sounds a fab holiday!

  • Hi all....well I've been a good girl and been very careful to keep the radiated area covered. Despite this the skin underneath split 2 days ago. The burn cream the hospital gave me is really helping.

The good....weather is incredibly hot and people are lovely

The bad...food is terrible in the hotel and daughter had to have 10 0stitches in her leg after cutting it open on the swimming pool steps which have a sharp piece of metal on them.

Making the most of what we can do but now cannot go swimming or beach which in this heat is a mare lol.

Hope you are all well x

  • Ouch that sounds painful. But glad you’re having fun. You deserve it. I am jealous. Gonna be at least a year til I can go abroad although the weather has been stupidly hot. Unbearable when ur sat in a hospital bed for 3 days. Still here as they still can’t find out why I can’t keep food in and bleeding from my bum :-( hope it’s nothing serious!

rubbish about ur daughter. You should sue! Try and have a fab rest of the holiday x

snapped the silver chain on my necklace.. luckily did it in my sleep so still got the pendant (very dear to me cos my friend became a silversmith when she was made redundant nd my pendant was her first creation (nd sale for her). At least I get t go shopping at weekend for a new chain.

    The bad :- none.. yay :-) x

  • Hey Sundial what u up to today... hows the new pond coming on... or u not started it yet? X

  • Hi Sandra

I'm ok today. Too hot for me so sitting inside with fan on. Pond not being started until the end of this month, a week after my op date so that should be fun. Lol

Big bug bear at the moment is.....How difficult do think it is to find out the grade of compression stocking they use at the hospital post op? I’ve spoken to three different people and no one can tell me. I had such trouble with them last time I thought I’d buy some made to measure but they need to know the grade.  It isn’t as if I want them to pay for them or give me a prescription.Frustrating

    Have a cool day.

  • It is hot... I’ve snipped back stragglers on hedge (2 min job) moved some pots around ( heavier than I thought they would b lol) pulled some more weeds .... sigh. Now on recliner under the shade of the parasol (parasol tilts to the right angle for the sun - Best Buy ever ) - got glass of wine nd book... my type of time in garden ;-).

Its the little questions that often stump them ain’t it. Wonder if ringing the ward would help get an answer? U would think it would b written in yr notes somewhere for them to look nd tell! X

  • Yes I thought about ringing the ward but I’ll keave that until monday now. One of the people I spoke to today also said as a last resort mention it to theatre staff because in the oedema clinic they have long a short as well as small medium etc. So I’ll try. I’ve just said that the hospital ones are ok for about a week until they start stretching so I might have to see how it goes, I’ve bought a gismo for putting them on so that might help the stretch problem. Still frustrated.

  • So much for an early finish, got away at four, normal time, sigh...

  • Afternoon me lovelies :-)

Bless Rileyroo give an  inch they take a mile.... hopefully u r on flexi nd can take it back later. At least it’s the Weekend now :-)

the good :- swimming, coffee at daughters, shopping, washing on line nd chicken in oven .... all done. Now one of my fav activities lie in garden with book nd glass of wine ;-)

    bad :-) none yay!
