The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Oooh Sundial on ya serious note..... daughters have a few friends who are teachers and teaching assistants nd they get mannny bottles of wine, perfume, vouchers, chocolates, bath bombs etc ( they say they don’t want the bookmarks, pictures etc cos just have to bin them). Last time one put on Fbook that hers added up to £150. I am genuinely surprised this is allowed. Iil one is young enough to only had this once and yes we didn’t want her to be left out so she gave 4 cupcakes ( she made them nd put in fancy presentation box) one for each of her teachers/classroom assistants t have on break. Then daughters friends all said they would have been binned cos they never eat any food things brought in. 2 days after end of school a lovely thank you letter came in the post addressed to the lil one thanking her for the lovely cupcakes nd they all enjoyed them very much and could she ask mummy to write out the cake nd topping recipe and give it to her friend who would pass it on to her. So think they were indeed eaten. Personally I think the school is right t stop it. Long time ago but when I was at school my teachers all made a yr book we all were encouraged to write in it things we had liked doing in the yr, what we didn’t like, our favourite lessons etc. Some teachers had 2 or 3 yr books nd some had a full shelf depended on how long they worked there. I remember when we left that school to go to the next one all the classrooms were opened up for us to go in nd read each of the teachers yr books to see how our time at the school had been nd how we had changed. All these yrs nd still remember it clear as a bell. Wonder if the teachers ever looked back on them :-) x

  • Oh no, I kinda did same with table...went t scrape off loose paint nd whole blinking table top of paint lifted.... sigh. Why it needed 2 coats lol. Glad I bought the sort of paint that didn’t need the undercoat!

So.... is this what u were doing on ya wk off bless. Please tell me u did some nice u things too.

Hope it goes quick for u cos know u r ready t move on .... hugs me dear ️X

  • It wasn’t all work. Son is still not back at work yet so managed to spend a bit of time with him. Went to York on Friday evening and had a lovely meal and chat with god daughter and old friend. Got my face de fuzzed, possibly slightly too much information there and went shopping with daughter on Saturday cos she wanted some bits for her holibobs, she’s now in Tenerife for a week. Oh and saw her house for the first time. Will that do?

  • Hello peeps, I thought I was over the surgery side effects I went to work yesterday had a full day at the office went to show properties in the afternoon came back at 7 and cook And went to bed like at 10:30 at night. Today I’m working from home but I’m exhausted. So much I cannot get up from the couch is that normal ? I need to finish work. How long does the tiredness or exhaustion after breast surgery last? My surgery was about two hours long. Lumpectomy

How long will this last? What can I do to get over it? I am eating healthy I’m drinking lots of water what else can I do ?  :(

  • Thanks Liliana,

unfortunately this chemo hates me. Back in hospital last night with another infection. Temperature was through the roof and shivering. Also haven’t been off the toilet (sorry lol). So hooked up to antibiotics and fluids. Am so careful all the time with hand washing and healthy eating I don’t know what else to do. Heard so many horror stories chemo does more harm than good and I’m starting to think it’s true :-(

  • How many more round of Chemo you have? I’m sorry about that .  I don’t know yet if I’m going to need chemo but I am really not looking forward to it .

  • In the schedule so far it’s 5 more rounds but it could be extended because the cancer is so advanced. I won’t sugar coat it. It’s pretty awful but as they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I’m not giving up the fight  just yet :-) x

  • Never give up ! The mind is a powerful thing ! I know you can do it! . Once we start this journey we never know how long it’s going to be but we need to stay strong and we are here to help each other . I’m going to pray that the Lord be by your side so you can be cured fast . I know you will !

    Hugs
