The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Ok so I have a weird question, started a new post with it but maybe you lovely ladies know the answer.

Now I’ve taken off the dreaded compression stockings my legs ache especially if I walk a lot. Is this usual?

  • Yep saw Poldark don't you just want to slap George Warleggen! Am enjoying Handmaids tale.

Found weird French sci fi which is good called Mission which is worth a watch.

Good read for me at moment is Duncton Wood about a dystopian society of moles!

  • Sounds a very positive consultation sundial. Always good when they say no hurry.

It’s hard to say what I would do mainly cos I’m  a BC lass nd have no experience of any other. On extremely surface knowledge - think I’d go for the lymph node op. The chance of reducing the RT sessions and their potential side effects is what would sway me. Also feel I’d need to know the nodes are clear (suprised they didn’t take during your initial op). Remember I have no experience so my choice is entirely superficial... like u say u need to make your own informed decision.

So basically want t help but I’m hoping from foot t foot on this lol :-/ x

  • Oh aye mole society one sound erm.... interesting ;-)

I’m reading a rubbish historical romance ( enjoying it lol).

Went t see deadpool 2 last night. Wise cracking fun... in a violent, strong language sort of way...I loved it lol.

oh I’ve watched loading player one now ( sadly not 3D) again u were right thoroughly enjoyed:-).

Hope work is being kind t u. X

  • Mine didn’t ache. I could almost feel the blood flow into them when took sox off.

I would make appointment with Dr just to b safe.  Especially since u have been on blood thinners and adding diabetes into the mix. Better safe than sorry. X

  • Thanks for your input, Sandra. Sometimes just an objective view can help. They didn’t take nodes in the first op because the biopsy came back grade 1 and the MRI showed no enlarged nodes. They didn’t want to do double the procedure based on that information. I think my surgeon was as surprised as I was when the histology showed grade 3.

and sorry ladies, not what I would normally post here.

    GOOD

Im still trying to smile. Well actually more like I’m still trying....or so my husband tells me.

  • So glad the meeting went well today sundial. If it were me I would want to be sure the nodes are clear just for peace of mind. The benefit of having that info for me would be worth having a 2nd procedure. I'm interested to know what option you were/are more swayed towards. I know for you there are additional risks to surgery due to your diabetes and how much longer it can take you to heal.

  • Morning everyone

    Good

I'm smiling, the sun has got his hat on, having a chill day.

    Bad

Usual but nothing of great significance,

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.

  • Good morning. I'm just about to go out the front to paint the fencing....lets see how far I get before I get bored lol

  • Morning sundial and all other ladies

not been on for a few days. Had wig fitting yesterday followed by an emotional breakdown at the Macmillan centre but it is a lovely wig and much better than my existing hair. Picking it up next week followed by a nice massage. 6 days into first chemo and first day I’ve felt entirely normal. I’ve come off lightly I think as still managed to pop into work and clean the house etc. Biopsy tomorrow to check for lymph node spread. Can’t say I’m optimistic as that hospital seems to love giving me bad news but will try to remain positive. Sun is out and meeting the little sis for lunch at Nando’s :-) hope everyone is ok xx
