The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

Sandra x ️X

  • You too dizzle82 ... fingers crossed for your results ... at least you got a lot of company along the way ... hold on you can do this ... Chrissie x

  • Ahhh button moon ️ Well it’s Tina of course lol.

My daughter has just text to say the logo for who Nick Fury ( Samual l Jackson) sent the distress call to was Captain Marvel ( Apparently there is a Captain Marvel movie in 2019). The extra bit showed earth... helicopters dropping out of sky nd people disintegrating. A car stops nd Nick Fury nd his assistant get out... she begins to disintegrate- Fury starts to send the distress call  then he disintegrates the device he was sending call on drops to the ground with screen saying message sent then the logo of Captain Marvel .. dan dan dannnnnn.

  • Hello ladies glad to hear things moving along! Just wondered if any of you had 5 minutes if you could go the thread getting results tomorrow the lady got her results today and wasn’t good and I think she could do with some of your special words of wisdom please.

In stead off taking more time off work I am doing my full hours over more days and seems to be helping not doing so long a shift. All stitches now gone but still a bit of purple bruising. Just feels achey and a bit heavy just like when you have a baby and your milk comes in x

  • So mri never went well. Apparently it’s so advanced I have to have a double mastectomy. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going right now. Why is life so unfair :-( more biopsies and scans next week x

  • Morning dizzel

So sorry about the  news on the MRI front

does the double mastectomy mean you don’t need other treatments now - Radiotherapy etc?

Our Chrissie had a single mastectomy and will b along shortly with her experience but from previous posts she does say the op was not as bad an experience physically as she had made it out to b in her head.

So bless going with you have reconstruction decisions to make now.

I know all this is so overwhelming at the moment. It is normal that you feel this way. It is reassuring to know a very experienced team are doing everything what needs to be done to get you through this. You can do this hun. Sending big big hugs ️ X

  • Hi Sandra123,

I got my diagnosis today about BC and I asked the surgeon about mastectomy and he said the chances of cancer coming back are the same as a lumpectomy. ???

    I don’t understand that.

  • Sorry to hear your results weren’t good sending you a big hug x

  • Thanks to you all. I don’t really know what’s gonna happen as I left the hospital in a bit of a bubble. I start chemo tomorrow. I got my prescription for a wig which strangely was the most distressing thing. Just keep thinking of my 8 year old. She told me not to come to the school with a bald head. That hurt lol x

  • Sorry it wasn’t  better news. A lot of us have had shocks like this so we know exactly how you feel. Give yourself chance to process what you’ve been told and when you can think it through. Come back and talk whenever you want, There’ll always be someone here to listen.

Im sending a virtual squeeze from my hand to yours,

    Sundial

  • Hey dizzle

Sorry to hear the results from your mri were not good.

Kids do have a habit of saying things and not understanding their impact. I wonder if you can make looking at wigs an activity with her where you try some weird and wacky ones. It might help both of you to adjust and take some of the scary out of it. Just a suggestion. Good luck for chemo x
