The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi just heard on radio and BBC news on Google ... there's something about early breast cancer will not need chemo ... the tests have shown some cancers do no different with or without chemo ..

I'm in middle of dinner .. but if anyone else hears anything please share ...

  • It’s on the bbc news website as a headline Chris. It doesn’t apply to all early stage cancers, I think I saw about 70% quoted and definitely not for those with the HER2 mutation but it appears that hormone therapy  and surgery is just as effective as chemo would be for those that are in the 70%.

  • That's good news for me then ... As I'm her 2 neg and my lump came back low risk ... As I can't have radio either coz my skin doesn't heal but taking tamoxifen then that must mean I have a better chance now .... So that's great news ... And let's hope it helps some others not to have to go through chemo ... The percentages are almost the same ...  ; ))

  • Saw something too....looks like its linked to the oncotype dx score.

  • Morning ladies

brill news and states treatment options will change as soon as today. This is good news for lots who may have been told chemo and now don’t. Wonder if testing was automatically done across the board.

So... extra good luck for our warrior who gets her test results from America today. ️ X

  • Morning ladies... fingers crossed for worriorqueen to day ...

Hope you all have good week ..

Good .... I'm off this after as my Monday nanny afternoon with lil uns .. ; ))

Bad ... feel so sorry for those who just gone through chemo, who now find out it didn't give them a better              percentage and l know it's only some... but they must feel cheeted now ... ; ((

  • Morning ladies. Good luck Warrior.

Great news about chemo but do feel for those who went thru it and didn't have to. I was told as I had just turned 50 I was on the cusp of whether chemo would be given. Had I been 55 then they would have recommended it. It's also to note that it is dependent on particular scores and features. The research and findings for alot of cancers nowadays is surging fwd and hopefully one day the survival rates will increase.

I'm at home today - not feeling great so yep, it's duvet day. Should've listened to my body on Fri but I pushed too far. Sigh.....never learn my lesson.

Take it easy ladies and stay well. Enjoy your day.x
