The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Yes time ticking away now. Just writing some questions down for good and bad results. Had a cry this morning but feel calmer at moment x

  • Crying when you need to is good. It's important to deal with all the emotions. You've got this!
  • Hay you ... wer tough, not super human ... we all have a few tears ... letting it all out, but then getting back up, is the way things go .... just roll with them emotions ... so you be kind to your heart and give it permission to get xxxxxx off now and again. .

    You rock beachie ...

  • I learnt something interesting I didn't realise about my op! I apparently now have a titanium clip inside my boob which is used by velindre to locate where to hit with radiotherapy! It stays in place forever as well. Looks like they are turning me into the terminator now lmao x

  • Ha ha will u set off alarms at shops nd airports? :-)

I had clips put in at first US to locate lumps again but was told would b removed during op. Also had iodine seeds in for lumps location during op. They came in a lead radioactive box nd they used a wand that clicked like a Geiger Counter to locate them- meant I didn’t need the wire put in that others have mentioned. Again removed during op.Everyone in the day op room had the same.

Clips for radiotherapy I did not have lol. Does that mean you will not need the tats done?

ooo questions questions questions lol c

  • Oh wow...i never got the clip. I've got my tattoo appointment on 21st.

Some good news: meeting at work went well. They are not going to bother me for another 3 months. They want me to see occ health so they can get all necessary adjustments in place before I return to work and to plan what that return will look like. Aldo received news today that my critical illness cover claim had been approved so I now dont have to worry about the financial consequences of being off. Two huge burdens off my mind today.
