The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • I called Macmillan and they ring you back - they're work/legal person. I found them extremely helpful as it's sort of each case is different.

My old employers made me redundant knowing my diagnosis and their whole process was flawed.

Yes kids are the best - wouldn't have made it without my daughter. She came to every single rad appt bar 4 which my hubby came to - it was mom to fri for 6 weeks.

Why do employers make it so formal and difficult? We have enough to deal with. The rollercoaster we go on is big enough!

  • Hi cournish .. always good to know your rights.. forewarned is forarmed (l think) and Dave is great on this, like Rilley said ... hopefully he'll pick it up ... he's a bit like our advisor on here, if he doesn't know answer, he knows where to look .. and I'm sure any info would be read by others too ...

Well just gonna have my great, great niece for couple hours ... she's only 2 going on 22 ... talks like an adult ... really weird having conversations with one so tiny ... 3 soon though ...

So happy afternoon all ... Chrissy

  • So sorry t hear about your husband littleone.

Thank you for feeling able to  share with us.

......well I’ll go t the foot of my stairs a lass from Seahouses:-) along the coast from me. Not been for a while... miss the fish nd chips ;-)

I live 3 miles from Northumberlandia- have u ever been? Not far from Morpeth:-).

a warm welcome from us all littleone. Hope you become a regular nd join in often:-)

    take care me dear x

  • Whattttt lol. Knew u would have some crackers Riley. It’s little wonder some folkes get confused lol :-) x

  • Oooh do u think u will go back cornishpastie. Ours is called the Maggie Centre. Could pop in any time during treatment.  When I finished treatment my oncologist did a talk about how I might feel adrift after the intensity of treatment to suddenly having me time. So mentioned again the Maggie centre.

To be honest I didn’t feel like that... I grabbed my life back with relief-  but -I think I would have gone during treatment but it was in the hosp where I had my treatment nd I didn’t want to spend a moment there more than I had to. X

  • Also got Wetwang, as it looks and Yapham ditto!

  • Ha ha... brill... gotta wonder... why heh heh.

Ooo we have Berwick- Berick. Nd no doubt all others will come to me through the night waking me up lol x

  • Like Warwick, Warick I suppose. We’ve also got a Bugthorpe, went to the village school there to do a visit, right next door to what smelt like a pig farm. Even the smell of properly cooked food for school lunch couldn’t hide it!

  • I might Sandra. They do a 12 week exercise programme for people with cancer which I'm thinking of signing up for as a way to battle the fatigue. They also have a one off session called  hope for when active treatme t has finished. I may do that depending on whether I've returned to work.

  • Hi littlestone and welcome ... just jump in ... all are welcome ... anything you fancy ... it's the best thread to chat about cancer, but oh so much more ... Chrissy x
