The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

The good:- gonna make cakes then drink copious amounts of coffee whilst eating said cakes. :-) x

  • Well gals  mixed news not too bad really. No node involvement yippee! But I have to have another minor op Monday for them to take a tiny bit more margin - they must have left a bit of alien placenta lmao ! It also turns out I have the more common ductal cancer not lobular. After op will be the radiotherapy and Tamoxifen. They will also send the alien off to USA soon. So not going back to work.

Looking forward to Saturday as it is my birthday, if I could I would be going down the pub with all of you lovelies! Xxxxxx

  • I of course will be broadcasting live on operation day for your entertainment!

  • Ah bless... but u are right the best news is the nodes are clear. I had 2 lumps 1 ductal nd 1 lobular... it’s the lobular one that knocked me up t a grade 2....so brill news on it not being lobular too.

once the get those clear margins yr treatment follows pretty much what’s has been standard for the lasses on here so u are in good company. Mine was Letrozole rather than Tamoxifen though... always one t buck a trend me like;-)

im way impressed how nice nd quick they are getting u in for yr op mind.

Glad u have decided t not go back t work now. Get t have some u time... reckon u should treat yourself.

Shame we all live scattered t the winds cos heck I would have been at hops with you nd getting ****** at pub after with you now. We will have t settled for virtual hugs nd shoulder squeeze instead me dear.

Chin up hen... yes a side swipe but give it the sigourney look( u know the one) nd advance on it with menace. X

  • So glad that you have no node involvement hun. But sorry to hear you gotta have a bit more done.  They are moving quick in your area with treatment.

It's nice that you get to squeeze your birthday in before too so you can celebrate.

I had another gp appointment today. Had more dressings put on but they said I can take them off myself on Saturday  (freedom is beckoning). Gp not keen for me to go back to work on monday as ive still got restricted movement and fatigue so is signing me off for a further 2 weeks. (Feel like a weak and feable woman). Plus side it means i can go to results appointment next Tuesday without having yo go to work after.

  • Hi warrior queen ... shame about having to go back in ... but better now then down the line ... my original alien (love that term) went off to the U S A  wonder if they ended up in the same place ... (trust them to get a free holiday)  lol   ... great no node involved though ... that's well good ...

Hope you got something special planned for Saturday...    you rock ...

Bad ... it was a hard visit with sis today ... she was in a everybody stay away day .... but settled after a while and my other sis was there too ... so hate Alzheimer's... it's so so cruel ....

Good ... off to see Brian Connelly to night ... can't wait ...

  • Hey warrior - great news no nodes!!! That's really wonderful. You've been thru one ok and only one more to go. At least you'll be rid of that *******. Just take it easy ladies. If anyone didn't return to work for whatever reason they'd replace you within a second so take care of you FIRST. You've still got a bit of rubbish to go thru so work can just wait. I do wish I could rid myself of the fatigue but it is what it is. My new work place has been very supportive and agreed to 4 days a week and see how we go. Keep your mind at peace and think of only recovering. Every thing else is secondary. I just think it is what it is and we just have to get on with it at our own pace. I've come thru a difficult time mentally and physically and have really come to terms with it all. It took a long time but I have. You all WILL get thru your ops and treatment as we are very string otherwise we would not have been dealt this card. Onwards - always.

  • Thanks for all your lovely support, you gals can be on my space marine corp alien destruction mission any day XXX ️ ️

  • Sorry no more missions for me but I can rock the leather catwoman suit with killer heel boots!
