Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi all, we've had a good day, lots of face time and love, cards, gifts and from Sarah afternoon tea for two.  Ella was dressed as The Snow Princess with a tiara and its Book day for schools, her dress up was from a book I had bought called The Snow Princess.  Harry had a T shirt on with a hedgehog and Norman got so much chocolate that he will have to go on a diet, one is a massive block bigger than his I pad saying Happy Birthday, Faye sent a card with photos from the past years on it which was nice.  He's home now and the nurses sang Happy birthday to him he has a cough and says he hasn't been his best this week, Really I replied!  On a sad note Peter died last night, I've seen Isabella and spoke to her.  I'll tell you more tomorrow.  Thank you for the lovely birthday wishes and I know my thoughts are private on here with friends.  See you soon, love Carol x

  • Dear all I'm sorry I've been missing but I have been concerned about Norman as he has not been right.  By Friday after his birthday and treatment he couldn't remember who had bought him what and then told me to throw all the cards out apart from family as they made the place look a mess, Sue and Lukes had only arrived that day but he wasn't bothered , so I took them and put them on my mantlepiece so I could see them.  He then slept for some time and seemed a little better.  But that night I opened  a tin of tuna and the brine splattered all over me even going in my eyes so within two hours I had come out in massive big spots that looked like fleas had bitten me, so by 3am we were both up hubby for the loo and me scratching my skin raw.  But Flo, Christine and I did our zoom call, I had a glass of wine, but it's only 2pm.they said, who cares its a party in my mind when three of us get together, so off they popped and came back with a glass each.  Dorothy missed it as she had forgotten and was walking with Ray, one of us should have reminded her.  So we chatted for nearly two hours and then I suddenly saw all these effects at the bottom of my screen,  I tapped the Teddy bear one and there I was a cute Teddy bear with specs on and the howls of laughter from the others was so funny, Christine and Flo found theirs and we spent ten minutes being flower pots, groucho marx, unicorns and when we said goodbye Norman said crikey you're so noisy for your age!  Anyway we are both a little better this morning although I've had my bedroom window wide open all night and it's been minus two degrees but my spots stayed cool and I didn't die of frostbite.  Sue I'll message you privately and catch up later today.  Billy have a good Sunday with your lovely wife.  Take care, love Carol x

  • Dear all I've just been to see my brothers partner Karen as its her 65th birthday today.  We will have to sit in the garden she tells me before I go so I take a scarf, big hooded coat and gloves.  When I arrived a woman I don't know answered the door, Karen's back is bad so go in, if you want coffee make it yourself she tells me!  So there she is sat in the lean to at the back of the house, doors closed, smoking her head off, another friend Kevin was sat there vaping and his wife also, so much for obeying the instructions that were going to be forced on me!!  So by the time I got home I have had a shower, washed my hair put all my clothes in the wash, what a waste of time to hand over a card and bottle of wine, she doesn't drink she tells me at the moment because she is on tramadol for the back pain, the card had a beautiful peacock on it with Gold and deep green embossed body, they're devil's eyes on peacocks she states, yes I said that's why I bought it, only kidding I say but she got the message!  Do you know I'm a kind hearted person and never have cruel intentions but some people just rub me up the wrong way, hubby smiled at me when I came down all clean and fresh, well at least that's it until Christmas he smiles.  Today he has a bad sore throat and he looks tired but he is brighter than he was, the cards are still standing and he keeps looking at them.  So see you tomorrow, love Carol x

  • A spring day but black clouds so we had a ride to the garden centre where I bought a new camelia in bright red to go by the back door, hubby managed to nearly choke to death on a sweet he found in the car so I was glad we made it home in one piece.  Faye rang last night as she now has a vaccine appointment for tomorrow which I am very happy about.  She had spent that much time getting everyone ready for school she had forgotten to do her own covid test so she could work yesterday at the school, isn't that typical you think about everyone else and neglect yourself.  Anyway they all went back and with very little trouble just a few tears from Ella.  On our way home today we saw the senior children flooding out of school all the girls giggling with their friends, the boys all lanky and gauche but happy to be free it raised our spirits and made us smile, we can see the light on the faces of these children who have missed so much to keep us oldies safe.  I hope we appreciate all they have given up for their grandparents and older family members and that it never happens again despite professor Witty and his doom laden messages this morning.  So that's it for now, love Carol x

  • Margaret came for coffee yesterday and another two hours flew by, laughing is so good and we do plenty of that together.  Hubby has not been too good, just odd things, terrible indigestion, a pain in his back, a cough but as I said this morning he has lots going on in his body, he forgets what is wrong with him and doesn't think things are maybe getting worse but it's his way of coping so I will not make a big issue of it just a gentle reminder.  My plant pot we bought turns out to be pale. Blue not pale green so it's going back, does it matter he asks, it does to me as one pale blue pot in amongst pale green looks wrong but then again I am a little OCD in certain cases.  So take care all, love Carol x

  • Hi there Carol ...

Sorry to hear hubby isn't too good at the mo ... hopefully when spring pops up he'll feel a tad better ... fed up of lockdown now and winter ... need a bit of sun ... but reading your threads is like a bit of sunshine .. even when things go wrong you find a funny part of everything ... if only everyone had your sense of humour... it would be a kinder world ... I could just picture you sitting in the middle of all that smoke, probly wishing you were outside in the fresh air ...   ; ))   x

Well just thought I'd pop by to say hi ... you keep holding on in there ... hope everyone else is doing o.k in these weird times wer going through... big hug to you and yours .... Chrissie x x

  • Hi dear carol and friends.

Idid a bit of silent cursing at brenda, just lately she goes to bed early to read or watch TV otherwise backache.

Anyway Melissa the lovley neighbor who does the shopping for us came back with a lovely wicker basket full of various flowering plants for brendas mother Day I put it on shelf at end of her bed, brenda nearly in tears,I went back to my room as usual later brenda called me wanting commode,I moved her on it then noticed dark pieces on sheet,I checked it was compost,so brenda explains she took plants out of basket to check if they were artificial or not, luckily I've pushed them back in basket and they're still flowering .

When finished flowering probly put in toilet pot in garden.

Glad you had a good chinwag with someone else always helps the Day pass.

    Take care keep safe.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Hi Billy and Chris, it's nice to have chat back as it's so boring at the moment and not much happening.  Norman is watching too much news and getting really angry about everything even Kew Gardens who apparently are now going to name plants that have a colonial past, Harry and Meghans interview, the damage to the Queen, Black Lives matter and so in, he even got cross tonight because I said he was giving me a headache!  I always know that he is not well when he gets like this and end up trying not to argue about it all but it is tiring.  So Mary finally rang me today but she said she had rang last week but as she doesn't leave a message then how would I know!  We used to talk and see each other every week so after a month of nothing I felt like I had been "cancelled".  Anyway we are back on an even keel and she is having a wisdom tooth removed next week.  I'm going to have an early night as I'm so tired all this nothing to do is getting to me!  My gym opens soon I will be there the minute the doors open.  Take care both of you.  Love Carol x

  • My poor husband has just made me coffee and toast and then stated he should be put down like an old sheepdog, I pointed out that Vets don't take human beings for euthanasia yet and he looked crestfallen, please don't let's go back down that road I beg, the only thing that helps is humour and love.  He is missing family, grandchildren, friends having a meal out and yet we have weeks to get through before this can happen and its unfair, if that doomsayer Chris Witty comes on my TV screen I shall throw a slipper at his face.  The day stretches ahead and I have know idea how we are going to get through many more before we go mad!  Take care, Carol x

  • Dear Carol and Friends.
Ir sounds like Norman's birthday was a good one despite not being able to see famikly.
Your zoom call with Flo and Christine sounds great, and the wine was a great idea, didn't matter that it was only 2pm.  Can't get over the brine from the tuna giving you spots.  IT was nice of you to visit Karen for her birthday, shames she had one rule for you and a different one for others.  All the smoke would have permeated your clothes, hair and anything nearby.  Seem sto me she was rather ungrateful, ok so she canb't frink at present with the drugs she is taking but I'm guessing she won't be on them permanently.  I Did like to comment about devile's eyes on the peacock.  Camelia's are gorgeous, there is a lovely camelia at Anam Cara, I can't wait till it blooms, it is just starting to get some buds .  I agree with you the pale blue pot would look odd in amongst all the other pale green pots.  Take each day as it comers Carol and you both will get through it.

Dear Billy, A lovely gift for you wife from Melissa.  And I'm sure they will look lovely in the toilet pot in the garden once they finished flowering.  Hope you and Bren are doing well.

Dear Chriss, Carol's posts do brighten our days.  Hope you are doing well.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx
