Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi all of you out there, we've had a marvellous week of sun, sea, swimming and gorgeous weather.  Ella has been so happy and Alfie is so grown  Up now but still very loving.  We went everywhere in two cars so Alfie came with me in my Beetle as Mum's car has no air con, we chatted and laughed and he was so pleased to have a cool car.  Wednesday we had a meal out and drank and ate, Faye had two large wines and was laughing so much Ella declared, Mum's drunk, again!!  Hubby went to get his leg done and nothing was said but he does annoy me when people are with us as he starts referring to me as "She" which I hate or making out I've done things wrong but I bit my tongue and said nothing, so how good was I?  We've had road rage on the way to meet them for coffee and he got it in the neck as he was in the wrong and as I pointed out that not having either of his hands on the steering wheel whilst gesticulating at another driver was not how he should be driving.  So it's very quiet now and tea will be left overs, mind not much left as they are like a plague of locusts, especially my teenage grandson.  See you soon.  Love Carol x

  • Dear carol, you certainly are getting around lately.

Glad you're enjoying yourself despite putting other drivers in their place, and not commenting when someone says something you don't like.it definitely shows you're more happy now.

Brenda is getting out regularly not and coming in before she gets cooked I've been leveling up passage floor to kitchen then a ramp down,. Plus shelving mods in kitchen so brenda can get right through and outside on her own,I always keep with her her steering leaves alot to the imagination good job its rubber tires. She's happy that's main thing .

I'm still low BP but hot flushes are a nucience with hot weather . I'm still keeping positive.

Hope you can manage plenty more days out and have fun.

Take care remember plenty of bad drivers around.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Dear Billy and friends, a busy week after family left and today Flo, Christine, Dorothy and I have been out for lunch but what a laugh we've had, it was like the real Marigold hotel on wheels.  Ray rang to say it was embarrassing being out with Dorothy and her food as she struggles to eat, don't worry I'll look after her, she's our friend, he broke down in tears, poor guy he is struggling.  Ron had to walk Christine to the car, holding hands, look at you two love birds I say, actually Ron says she can't see where she is going because of her eyesight, romance bit the dust.  So I shoe horned them into the back of the Beetle, shoving Christine's bottom, she had white trousers on and lace knickers, ooh sexy I point out.  Dorothy was in the front as once in the back she can't work out how to get out!!  Lunch was lovely and we had a photo taken, we chose battered fish goujons for Dor and she ate it all, then a black forest gateau, then Flo got cramp and had to hop around the restaurant, fortunately by this time there was only us left.  Faye is right, I need new friends, only joking it was lovely to laugh at all the problems and to see each others faces.  We're going to do scones and tea next time. So shoe horned back in the car I took them all home, a group hug and our time was up.  Hubby has gone out, leaving me a note saying he loves me, how nice is that?  So Friday is a day out with Margaret as she has an IOU for her birthday from me, more food, drink and laughter, life is getting slowly back to normal.  Love to you all. Carol xx

  • Margaret and I had aa fabulous meal at Headlam for our belated birthday i celebrations. We were treated like royalty and the orangery was beautiful with the sun shining in and causing the central chandelier to glitter like a million sparkling diamonds.  She had never been before and was really happy with everything we had.  The waiter showed us into the courtyard and brought us coffee and took our photo for keepsake.  Margaret tried to pay but Norman had said it was his treat as we had stuck by each other through the lockdown and hard times (unlike Mary who abandoned me despite not being ill in any way or form but more about that later).  So when I got home Mary had rang and hubby had said where I was and would I call her back, so I did but there was no reply.  So the following day having mowed the lawn, swept up, hosed it all Down , watered all of my spare Norman's plants and baskets as they've escaped for a few days I rang her.  I saw your photo on face book she tells me pretending she didn't know I'd gone out, I called you when I got home, what time she asks, about 4.30pm, no you didn't she states, the phone was with me at all times, I was so bloody mad that she was calling me a liar I got cross with her.  I am one of the most honest people you'll ever meet and being called a liar is tantamount to treason in my book!!  Anyway we finished on a frosty note and hubby said, just leave it Carol, she's upset because you're living a life and she's not, he's right.  So today we've been to Eggleston Hall but hubby is not feeling well and everything was an effort for him so he complained about everything he could.  I just agreed with him as it must be so hard in this heat with cancer and a prosthetic leg to be comfortable.  We drove over the moors and he calmd down and is now sitting in the garden with two bottles of Stella  and the Sunday papers.  I booked to go and see Lisa she changed the date as they are off to Cornwall, oh it doesn't matter ill do the16th to 20th July instead, so managed to get a return ticket for £60.    Three hours later I saw Maureen, not long now Carol until the Chistening she smiles, oh for goodness sake although I've got gifts, cards and wrapping paper because it was a Facebook invite it had gone out of my head, 8 weeks notice Stephanie gave us, an invite would have sat on the mantlepiece as a reminder, so £60 down the drain.  Take care, Carol x

  • Dear carol.   Been having trouble with my teeth braking went to dentist, nearly all had it, its these new meds I'm on.  Had nearly all top ones out,he left two in which were good enough for a few years yet,.said they will help to hold dentures in place better,. Then in three months moulding for top and bottom ones out then three months moulding for btm ones .

Brenda is still going more mobile but her attitude is I never do anything, and anything she loses is my fault nomatter what it is.

  • Hi Billy, I've started early on the gin today as I've knocked my front tooth out eating Victoria sponge cake, fortunately I have not swallowed it so I'm back at the dentist Monday, I sometimes think a bed should be booked the amount of time I spend there.  Us women love bossing you men about its what we were put on this earth for.  It's been treatment week so back and forwards to the hospital but two swims in between going.  I did laugh today as when I was leaving a young man and his wife were having a spa day and he was stood by the pool in a robe with a black mask on, what a twit he looked, why bother  going if you're that scared of a chlorine riddled pool!  Norman has been OK but they trashed his hands again yesterday, bruises galore but as we said a few bruises is better than death.  So I cancelled my tickets to see Lisa and rearranged for the 22nd July, today I've received a message that the christening has been cancelled due to covid restrictions still being in place, so another £20 down the drain!  I give up as we cannot organise anything at the moment.  Next week we are having scones and tea at Redworth Hotel, Christine then got an appointment for her eye surgery so we wished her luck, then yesterday she texted that the top eye surgeon died at the weekend unexpectedly, what a shock, so now she has to be found a place on another surgeons list.  I went to Darlington yesterday to take a top back but halfway there realised I'd forgotten it, never mind I'll post the tickets back, so hubby dropped me off at the post office that has been there for 30 years, it had completely gone, I stood there wondering what had happened and looked so lost a woman asked if I was OK, so apparently it moved into W H Smiths last September, another casualty of the pandemic.  Hopefully you're all well, love Carol x

  • Dear carol.

Hope your teeth arn't getting like mine, I was having a pot noodle when mine went walkabout, all in bits though so one noodle in the bin didn't realize what had happened at first. I've found ice lolly works as good as painkillers being cold it numbs it for hours and can still have painkillers if needed like at night.

Our postoffice has moved twice since covid.

I can understand how Norman feels with his hand it happened to me twice All brused and swollen, I've had similar with scan and die not going in right and swelling my arm up.

Really glad you're getting out and about glad you have WH Smith ours closed , usto go there for Brenda's books.

We're both managing well, keeping positive and safe.

Take care don't get lost keep safe.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • So I've officially been a toothless old crone this weekend.  Friday afternoon, 3.30pm eating victoria sponge cake and a coffee after a swim and a busy day, I knocked my front tooth out!  It's always on a Friday isn't it when things go wrong, to make you suffer the whole weekend.  So Saturday I popped to buy food, wearing a mask, it was so hot I nearly passed out, so I took it off and tried not to talk or smile, which is very hard for me!  Hubby has not been good after his treatments, swollen hands, angsty about everything and I mean everything, he asked if I wanted to go out yesterday, what looking like this and you with hands that can't even hold a pen, no thanks we'll stay home safe.  So lots of cards, messages, facetime and lots of love, he was happier.  I cooked him steak and gave him a steak knife because of his hand problem to help cut it.. Why have I got a steak knife he asks, is the meat tough, let's just say its a good job it was fathers day or he might have found the knife where the sun don't shine.  Billy I am sick of the dentist, I have always had good teeth but blame hubby as his cancer has caused me to grind my teeth so much the damage is done, see you in six months the dentist said, let's see if we can manage six days I reply.  Take care all of you.  Love Carol x

  • Tooth fixed but eating like a titmouse so I don't break it again.  We had a quiet weekend but Tuesday Flo, Mary, me and Dorothy  had scones with cream and a pot of tea at Redworth Hall in the gardens, it was scrumptious and worth £7.00.they only problem being that they don't take cash anymore so I ended up paying for everyone.  Dorothy is very unsteady on her feet and Flo did the man made path down to the gardens which was a mistake as it was like a hiking trek what a job we had with her so we did the long way back.  It is her birthday this week and she had been out with her sisters the night before but could not remember any of it, she is really bad now and it breaks my heart.  Hubby has been out and about as the weather has been good so golf and his buggy have had lots of use.  Flo dropped my money through the door for her tea and Dorothy said she would give me hers, if she remembered, after two days of texts saying she'd forgotten I said to have it as a birthday treat, so a lovely text came back saying, I love you and thank you.  Today I've been to Teesside Park for new pj's and new underwear for my trip away, Maureen saw me as she was pushing Phoebe and offered me the loan of her pull along suitcase.  So a gin and tonic with ice at teatime and feet up now, hope you're all well, love Carol x

  • Dear carol.

Just imagining you eating like a titmouse I was originally thinking of a hamster or a squirrel ️ but *** mouse will do.    Really glad you can keep getting out and about and see friends and Norman is getting his golf going again.

Brenda is still improving her mobility apart from nocking things out her way rather than go round.

I'm still managing ok,gums alot better now as well just couple of tender spots.missing a good steak or chops.

Keep galavanting and enjoy yourself .

    Love Billy xxxx
