Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Dear Billy and friends, I didn't have a good day yesterday as I had toothache (I know, even I'm sick of it!) so I had a bad night where I seemed to be awake and yet asleep, I eased my Alaskan bear eye mask off, looked at the clock and it said 6am, or so I thought!!  I should have realised that as it was light it was not 6am but 9am Maybe I was hanging upside down like a bat and read the 9 as a 6.  So when eventually I looked again it was 10.15am, I honestly think I could die in my bed and hubby would still not check until he had his cup of tea, whuch obviously I take to him.  So this discombobulated my whole day.  We went to TK Max to get talcum powder and other toiletries, when we got back Faye face timed wanting to know where we had been, so hubby dobbed me in and I got told off for going to a shop!  I gave up and sat watching TV all day, this not seeing anyone is driving me bonkers.  Billy, you are going through so much but you stay upbeat and look after your two ladies.  Keep telling me what is happening as I worry about you.  I have answered a few postings but they never come back on, I sometimes wonder if they forget what they have posted under.  We were out for bloods this morning, the snow at Bishop was pretty bad and hubby struggled as no one had cleared the paths, they did it whilst he was in having it done so a little better when he came out.  He does exaggerate though, he couldn't get hold of me as apparently there was no signal, I spotted him and drove over to help him in the car, I've been waiting ages he states, I've had far more fresh air than I bargained for!  I was not amused as before we left I'd deiced my car, scraped the ice off, salted the path and swept the ice away all to stop him falling over, so he didn't get much sympathy, when I got home I checked my phone he had rung me at 10.27 and I'd picked him up at 10.29, so he got a flea in his ear when we got home.  Take care of yourself all of you, Carol x

  • A trip out this morning, to the dentist, hubby was so lovely as I had a bad night so he got up, defrosted his car as its one degree here and when it was time to go it was warm and cosy.  So the outcome was that once again I have turned my jaw into a tight drum of pain, I was just relieved that having another tooth removed wasn't in the plan.  So back on a soft diet, no chewing, hot water bottle and exercises, at least I can still drink gin, maybe I need more to relax my mouth (drunk sounds good, everything is relaxed).  So we have stayed home and are now in tier 4, apart from clothes shopping not much change from tier 3, at least I can shop on line, I've actually downloaded the Qvc shopping app, well done me.  But shush as hubby doesn't know.  I've managed tuna and mashed potato for tea so at least I'm not starving, oh and I treated myself to some cup cakes because that's a soft diet food!  Harry rang last night, he wants to come and live with me because he's sick of Mummy, Lisa was not amused, she was fighting Zippy for her trainer as she had been out in the mud, he'd nicked it and was throwing it around the front room on the clean carpet!  He'd also found a muddy old tennis ball, ran in the house and jumped on the new sofa, which was white, they had got this free off face book to replace the one they sold as the new one is on order, it's a good job she got it free I replied.  See you tomorrow, Carol x

Hope you're tooth is ok this time, take care keep safe.    No snow here just very cold and frosty.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Thank you Billy for your kind words.  It is so cold here today that I couldn't get into my car, Dave saw me struggling and came over to help, Anne had her CT scan yesterday and they want to see her Monday so she's worried it's spread, I explained that they will want to start her treatment ASAP so not to worry because it was quick, she is only two weeks on from major surgery so doing well.  I rang Faye, she is so fed up and down so I made her laugh and said that her Christmas present was working a miracle on my skin, it's rosy and warm I said, or it maybe that I slept on a hot water bottle all night.  Lisa texted, she is fed up with doing housework, well that's what happens when you get a puppy and a brand spanking new kitchen with a white sink that you can't even put a tea bag down.  I've dropped hubby off for his treatment, he has a massive bruise on his hand from just tucking his shirt in, so whilst I was driving he was annoyingly smacking the back if his hand, what are you doing I asked him, trying to raise the vein on my hand for the needle, seeing as it's 0.0 degrees here I don't think that will work I say, so he stopped.  No plans obviously for this evening, a few drinks to relax my jaw and I'm not even staying up to see the New Year in, it's not going to be much better than the old one at this rate, no social life, no hair cuts, no exercise and no family, so basically it can S__d off until we all get back to normal.  Happy New year to you all though!!  Love Carol x

  • Dear Carol and Friends,

Well, New Years day here now and  very quiet.  I did hear a couple of fireworks, and across the road have a few people over, so right on midnight I heard them cheering. Can only hope the New Year is better than what we had in 2020.  Happy New Year to each and everyone of you.

I hope things are on the improve in the UK,  We don't get a lot of updates about how you are faring.
Cases are increasing in NSW and we now have 8 cases here, (a returned Victorian who had been visiting NSW and didn't quarantine when they arrived back.)   Here I am worrying about 8 cases, I dread to think how many there are in the UK.  Hoping they manage to quarantine everyone who has been in contact with any of them.  We don't want to go back to the severe restrictions we had.  Bree is hoping the weather holds for the boys party on Sunday as the number we can have at home is lower because of the cases we have in Melbourne.

Billy, You finally have some snow, it would make everything look so pretty.  Glad to hear  you and Brenda are improving slowly.

Carol, It's not good that are you are suffering from a toothache again.  Good at least that you have to have it removed.  Keep drinking the gin, that will relax you and ease your jaw.  Zippy is still a pup so going to still do things Lisa won't be happy about.  Shame it was on clean carpet and a white sofa.

Hope you all staying safe and well.  Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear Sue, happy new year to you and your family.  Our cases here are now over 50,000 reported as its a new strain, so we are back under lockdown.  Its my jaw that's gone into spasm, relieved its bit a tooth.  I would imagine there will be fireworks going off later but we are all banned from meeting up.  I hope the children have a good party and that your virus stays under control.  Love Carol x x

  • Well Carol and co... here we are saying good riddance to 2020 .... what a hell of a year .. so now I'm wishing a healthy new year to us all ... well as healthy as possible ... so thinking of you all ... keep kicking cancers butt .... big vertual hug all round ... Chrissie xx

  • Dear Carol, Chriss and Friends

It certainly was Chriss and more than happy to say good riddance to it.  Here's to a healthy, safe New Year for us all.

Carol, I didn't realise there were that many cases.  Here I am worried about our 8, which so far hasn't increased.   We have had a taste of normalcy and really don't want to go backwards.  Fireworks in Victoria were cancelled but I watched the Sydney (NSW) fireworks last night.  They were spectacular as usual over the Bay with the Harbour Bridge.

The kids will love their party which is still ok to go ahead as it is outdoors, but we could well have to wear masks unless we are actually eating or drinki8ng.  Small price to pay.  Hoping your New Years Eve was good, and that you at least had a gin to say good riddance to 2020 and welcome in 2021.

Take care and love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear friends, happy new year and here's to seeing friends and family again because we are all so fed up!  Norman said there were 55 cancer patients yesterday and the staff were run off their feet.  So we shared a bar of chocolate, Guinness and gin were drunk and by 11pm I was in bed being kept awake by somebody letting off fireworks, so I put my hot water bottle over my ear to block the noise out and fell asleep.  In my hey day we would parry until dawn, sleep a few hours then back to the village pub. Then I always held a new year's day party, until one year when Faye rang the pub to say there were people in the house that she didn't know!  My party was so well-known that strangers had asked about it and then arrived for my curry and drinks.  All the men from the pub went down and thew them out but there wasn't much food or drink left, so everyone rallied around, fetched food and drink and we partied til we fell over.  Such good times.  So feet up today, spoken to those we love and had a laugh, Lisa has got Zippy lights for his harness as when they were in the forest she couldn't see him as he's pitch black, she said they are brilliant, like having her own disco dog, she's so funny.  Faye has texted but she is struggling with not seeing us and keeps being near to tears when we talk, so I'll leave her until she feels up to it.  So take care all, love Carol x x

  • Hi Carol, you don't know me but I feel I know you so well! I'm not a stalker!, but I have loved reading your posts. We share many similarities, early 70's, married 50 years, well we will be this year   and my husband has had cancer. Luckily for us it's not as serious as your husbands is, but that's when I came across your posts. I think you feel sometimes that no one is reading them but I can assure you I not the only one who looks out for your posts. You bring humour into a difficult situation.  Please don't stop them, I hope your husband continues to defy the odds and that 2021 will be a good year for us all

    regards Chris
