Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • We have had a blizzard of snow today and just been to buy orange juice for my champagne tomorrow and many children had been out and built snowmen with twigs for arms, hubby face timed Ella and she was jealous of our snow, Harry's card arrived with a beautifully written message and Alfie showed us his greasy long hair as he missed his haircut due to tier 4.  We will miss them all dreadfully but needs must and soon we shall all be united as one family again.  Norman is much better today having slept most if the day away yesterday so our happy equilibrium is restored for Christmas.  So happy Christmas to you all, let's hope we can all carry on in the best way possible and to all fighting cancer, My prayers are with you.  Carol x

  • Dear Carol, Billy and Friends,

What a busy day, shopping, wrapping gifts, a late tea then a drive to look at all the Christmas lights with Deana and Nick.  Eli love the first few, Santa and Mrs Claus were even at one giving sweets to the children.  Eli was so tired though that he fell asleep not long after still holding his bag of sweets.

  • Happy boxing Day weekend to carol, sue and Chris.           We had a lovely Christmas, plenty of cooking and cleaning up, plenty of cards forget a few to send been apologizing . plenty of food left for another few days probably finished with curry.,or blend to soups.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, lovely to hear that you had a white one, rained here.didnt matter never went out.bella had a good Christmas dinner as well.

    Take care all

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Dear Billy, thanks for letting me know how you are.  Obviously not the Christmas we all wanted but we are used to ups and downs, plenty of food and drink and our partners with us is good enough for me.  We had lots of face time, Ella loved her tiger, Harry his Sloth and Alfie the money!  The girls were happy with their gifts and lots of food left over for today, Lisa had managed the village pub as today is tier 4 and they are stuck home alone again, at least Harry's Sloth talks back at him.  It is so cold here today but we are not flooded out like many so be grateful for the cold.  Norman bought me a fit bit watch but I'm having trouble setting it up, also very depressed as having put height and weight in its telling me I need to be 8stone 7lbs, I haven't been that since I was 30 when I had Lisa and everyone said I looked ill and had lost my bounce (mostly men and I think bounce meant boobs!).  So I've had another chocolate and mince pie and told it to get stuffed!  We're off to buy fat balls (for the birds, not me) just to escape for an hour.  Luke had a nightmare yesterday morning as the dish washer flooded then he did the rookie mistake of turning the taps on whilst still disconnected and flooded the cupboards, so he had to shut three dogs, a Grandma and a future mother in law in the front room to stop them paddling water through the house.  I told my brother, his Dad, when he rang me, not much sympathy as he said he should have paid more attention when he was younger to what was going on around him and he might have learned something!!  Not a lot of Christmas spirit there.  So see you all soon, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol. Billy, Anthea and all.
Sounds like you are exactly what we were, outcasts, non of the other states here wanted anything to do with us.  Now the tables have turned and NSW are the outcasts.  Not that they have as many cases as we had but their numbers are rising.  Not too many restrictions for us here in Victoria.  Although Bree is in the process of organising a birthday party for the twins.  They usually have more than the allowed number of 30 in your home though, so she is looking at having a picnic/bbq at a local park next weekend but the weather isn't looking promising at this stage.  Time will tell whether she limits who gets an invite or we brave the outdoors.  Christmas day here was almost the same as previous years.  I cooked for Bree, Jamie, her kids as well as Dean, Nick and Eli, (Deana has a combination of a virus and hayfever and was quite miserable so they didn't go to NIcks family Christmas).  Although she did spend most of the day in bed, couldn't cope with the noise from 4 kids and assorted noisy toys.  And apart from the hasselback potatoes not crisping in the oven all went well.  It has been years since I actually prepared Christmas dinner last.  We are still eating leftovers, although I'm looking forward to making a pot of pea and ham soup, probably Tuesday with the leftover ham.  Then yesterday I went to Cass's, we had beautiful weather and we spent the afternoon on her deck feasting on their leftovers, it was really nice though.  I got home at 2am and promptly went to bed and didn't get up till 12 today.  Still feeling weary so will probably sleep in again tomorrow.  I get a reprieve from the early mornings this week as Nick doesn't go back to work till the 4th of Jan.  Only a few more days before we can finally put this year to rest with hopes of 2021 being much better and a return to wg=hat used to be normal,

So nice that they thought of Faye with a beautiful thank you card.  I hope Norman is feeling better and at least enjoyed Christmas Day.  The fit bit watch sounds great but bnever believe the weights they say you should be.  Those things say my weight be something ridiculously low and at they weight I would look so drawn and haggard, I don't I've been the weight they say since I was a teen.  At my lowest adult weight I looked terrible with no shape at all.  Most of the other features are great though.

    Billy,
Glad you had a lovely Christmas, Hope you Bren and Bella are all keep as well as you can.

    Anthea,
Good to hear you Christmas day was better than you thought it would be.  Family do help.  Loved you getting in the wrong car, it is so easy to do, not too long ago I was trying to get in a car that wasn't mine, mine was parked three spaces down.  Nothing whatsoever wrong with spending a day in pj's, I actually wouldn't have minded doing that today.  Still recovering from a very busy week.

New Years to get through now, I won't be doing much New Years Eve, more than happy to stay home, too may idiots on the roads New Years Eve.  I have a drink or two and watch fireworks and the countdown on TV if they have any fireworks this year.  Not nuch happening in Colac for New Years Eve.  A few things in neighbouring towns.

Hope everyone stays safe and has a good week.

    Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi all, well I have to say I'm glad it's over. It wasn't as bad as I feared though. I actually managed to send Christmas Day with my sister, mum and daughter. With the bubbles that we're  allowed and 3 households mixing it worked well for us. I would have quite happily have passed if it meant Steve was here though.
carol you do make me laugh, did the Fitbit answer?! On Christmas Eve my daughter picked me up and I wanted to stop at the shop. I'll just turn round she said. I went in the shop, got what I wanted with glasses completely steamed up as they do as soon as I put a mask on, came out and got in the wrong car! I was chatting away when the poor lady said errr, excuse me! In my defence it was the same colour and style of car! What an idiot!!  We're now in tier 4 and I really don't know what that means anymore!! I've nearly lost the will. I'm spending today on my own, it's nearly midday and I'm still in pjs. I'm Just pottering about so I'll probably stay in them, shower and put clean ones on later! Take care of yourselves and your loved ones and stay safe love Anthea xx

  • Dear Anthea, these masks have a lot to answer for!  I tried to get in a red Beetle the other day and couldn't understand why the doors weren't opening, like you I had a mask on, specs steamed up, so when I checked the number plate it wasn't my car!  I was one row back, so I sauntered nonchalantly to mine hoping no one had seen me.  You've coped well really, I am dreading life without Norman and try hard not to think about it, it was good that you were with family, but it's all still there when you go home.  I'm pleased you are letting me know how you are, always here privately as well remember.  We went out and the garden centre was shut but we had escaped and made the most of being free for an hour.  Lisa posted on face book Christmas day night "anyone staying up to welcome tier 4 in" she's like me, making the most of a bad time.  I'm going to watch Black Narcissus tonight, did you see the original, or are you too young!!  Take care, love Carol x

  • Hi my darling carol.      Finally got snow here, not much yet luckily.   Got to go for two blood tests this morning two different specialists want different Tests done.       Still eating Christmas food up for a few days yet still enjoying it .

Still love to read how your days are going thank you so much, not much happening here, apart from TV eating sleeping going to see vampires.every month.

    I'm improving slowly,so is Brenda.

    Love Billy xxxx
