Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Dear Carol and Billy,

What a drama at the dentists, and your temp was still in the normal range, just the higher end of normal and no wonder wearing 2 tops.  I did laugh though.  At least your tooth should feel better now.  I would have liked your tea last night if Norman said it was too spicy, that's what I miss with Deana and Nick here.  Eli eats spicier than Deana.  My car will be fine I think, and I'm so proud of myself, I walked all the way home, all 5kms.  Although I have to admit I was very happy once I got home and could sit for a bit.  Haven't had a walk like that in a long time.  I forget to mention Eli's haircut, i miss his curls as they've all been cut of, but he looks like a little boy now with his proper cut.
Agree with Carol and yourself, easier to go with what keeps Bren from getting upset.  Hope your both doing as well as you can.

Love to all, take care.  Sue xx

  • Dear all, just to say we are both OK, I've just not felt  like posting.  I will catch up tomorrow, if anyone is still reading my rubbish!!  Xx

  • Hi Carol..

Everyone loves to read your string, and it definitely is not rubbish,

Like you haven't been putting much on lately not much changed lately, every day the same.

Hope things are going well at home.

    Love Billy xxx

  • Dear all, its been so hot that I've erupted in spots like mount vesuvius!  Behind my ears, on the bridge of my nose, everywhere that my specs rest, I think it's called sods law.  My feet have swollen so my poorly toe hurts and hubby is looking exhausted, we are definitely not hot weather humans.  I had Dorothy and Flo coming for drinks Thursday afternoon, so by 9.30am I had pulled jeans on, kept my pj top on, added crocs and mowed the lawn, this led to hosing down the patio, sweeping up and the usual garden paraphernalia, so by 11.30 I was in the shower, I decided to leave the shower trap soaking in the sink whilst I showered.  Big mistake, I suddenly realised water was cascading over the sink, opened the shower doors and was met with three inches of water floating around the floor.  I grabbed the bath mat, my dry towels, the clothes I'd worn, threw them on the floor, ran along the landing stark naked to grab more towels, it had even flooded into the bedroom.  I was soaking wet, chucking everything out the vanity unit as it had flooded that, my shower floor looked like a charity shop.  I lugged all the sodden stuff down stairs, hubby says what's up?  I tell him, oh how did you manage that, didn't the overflow work, blah, blah, stop asking stupid bloody questions, he lights up as usual, has it come through the ceiling, I don't bloody know I say, I haven't had time to look!!  Anyway it had, so wrapped in a towel I'm mopping the front room when my mobile rings, it's Dorothy, I don't know where you live she says, yes you do, you've been here loads, no I haven't she says, is Ray there I ask, who she says, Ray, your husband, Anyway I tell her I'll text the address.  So two hours later we sit in the garden in the glorious sunshine, drinking wine and laughing about my day, good friends are such a boost.  I did apologise for being snappy, Dorothy is so kind, she forgave me.  So much has happened this week, I'll tell you more tomorrow, I promise.  Welcome Sky1997. Xx

  • I had a really busy week last week and saw Jean, she had kidney cancer and just got out of hospital on Mother's day.  She warns me she is very thin, considering she's only ever weighed about 7 stone all her life I'm a little bit worried how she will look.  Anyway, she is like a stick insect and has put no weight back on at all.  I voice my concerns at how thin she is but she reckons she won't put it back on, I'm puzzled as to why not but realise that she seems happy that she won't.  An hour in I'm asked if I'd like coffee and a cream cake, coffee yes, no cream cake as I don't eat cream (I had an ulcer, so cream kills me!) my so called friend looks me up and down and says, oh really I would have thought you loved them, I felt like an elephant!!  As I'm pretty normal and fit I let it go, she said I had given her such a boost, I felt like saying, well at least I made you feel better!!  I have just ordered a new watch, my Swatch watch that Mary's Mum gave me money for when we did Barcelona, has lost its winder, so having called them today a lovely lady called Allegra tells me they won't repair it as its a sealed unit, it's 15 years old I tell her, well you've had your moneys worth she replied!  I didn't like to say I've got one that's fifty years old and still works.  I've bought a new one it's not a Swatch!  See you tomorrow. Xx

  • Hi Everyone,

    Welcome Sky.
Sounds like a heat rash Carol, As much as I love the heat it's not always kinds to us, I have a tendency to, with feet swelling in the really hot weather here.  That would have been awful flooding the house like that.  How did you go with the ceiling?  Hope there is no permanent damage.  Poor Dorothy.  That comment from Mary was a little unkind, shame she couldn't have given you a boost as you'd given her.  I would have though a Swatch watch would have lasted longer and been able to be fixed.  Neil's watch had been fixed a few times, a winder once, and qas quite old, still goes now.  I bought it for him not long after we married.  And I've still got one he bought me before we married.  it still goes too.

I picked up my car last Thursday, looks great, they did a really good job and it was even detailed before I picked it up.  Deana has taken it to work today as theirs wouldn't start this morning.  So it will have to be looked at.  They did a lot around the house over the weekend, Nick did all the gutters, so they are clean now.  Also moved the furniture off the patio and cleaned that, got rid of all the dust.  so that looks good now too.

Not much else happening here, I'll have Eli tomorrow and then again Sat and Dean and Nick will do a stocktake at the shop then, it's too hard to do when the shop is open.

Stay safe and love to all.  Love Sue xx

  • Hi everyone, I have been out to Darlington today and actually pleasure shopped, new books, Lady Glenconnor's autobiography, a thriller, new Kurt Keiger trainers so I can walk further when Harry comes home in two weeks.  It was quite fine actually, the staff were very good, visors were worn, you could pick the books up and touch the clothes just not manhandle them.  It was so nice to do normal things for a change.  Norman is looking a lot better now that it's cooler, treatment next week again, I was concerned about him as he seemed tired and not quite with it, my problem is that it's three years on and we never know what is happening, no scan dates, a phone call in the middle of July  and that's it, it's like living in limbo.  Sky, it's so nice you have joined us, it sounds like you are having a tough time, at least on this thread we do have a giggle and try to live as normally as we can.  My ceiling has not marked, we are all dried out upstairs and it hasn't been mentioned again!  Mary rang me to ask what I had been up to, she went quiet when she knew friends had been round, I didn't ask her as she has made it abundantly clear she won't come and sit in the garden, even though she can.  She says she is scared, Joe is going on and on about people not behaving themselves, the family are coming in two weeks and he said he had bought a table for the garden to socially distance them, what if it rains I asked, they will have to come in the house but Joe won't be happy.  I give up, I told her that I would not ask her again and that she can let me know when she considers it safe, we've been friends for nearly fifty years and I have never known her to be like this, Joe has scared the life out of her yet he is playing golf three times a week with three other men.  Take care all, Billy I hope things are a little easier for you at the moment, your help to others on this site is so kind considering what you have to cope with.  Love Carol x

  • Hi Carol

Bella might be clear of infection so the vet says I've got to keep my eyes on her.

Bren still got infection Dr wants water sample from mid stream, told her she'll be lucky obviously Dr hadn't read brens notes. So I'll get sample in the morning (not mid stream).

. Carol glad your indoor pond dried up without to much damage, really glad Norman is managing OK and treatment works.

Sue you always make me feel hungry with all these lovely meals you keep having.

Glad your car looks good again and glad your guttering is done in case it rains hard.

Love to all of my girls

    Billy xxxxxxx

  • Dear all, I've had a bust few days and today I've had to Don full coat, gloves and boots to tackle my roses. Last week we had a lovely gqarden party the three of us, but in the last week we've had wind, rain hailstones and anything the weather can throw at us, so my roses have collapsed.  Hubby has held them up with a broom whilst I tie them tigether with treble string, chop loads of gorgeous roses off and scratch myself to pieces before I lost them all.  He is extremely tired and very Shaky on his feet, he says he is struggling.  I had a scam text from PayPal this. Morning saying I've had unusual activity on my account, I didn't know I had this account so rang the girls to ask advice.  I tell Faye I've bought a new watch, some new face cream, a new Ella Fitzgerald CD, could it be that?  No Mum she instructs me, but stop buying things!!  Obviously she's worried I'll spend her inheritance!!   Billy I hope you coped with the wee situation, my Mum lost the ot every time she had a water infection, it was scary.  Take care all, love Carol x

  • Hi everyone, another gardening day, a new potted hydrangea and the garage guven a good clean, housework has gone to the wall so Sarah is doing an extra hour on Monday, bloods again, but he has said he will do it on his own as it was such a palaver last time.  Its Lisa's 42nd birthday tomorrow, it doesn't seem that long ago, it's funny how you remember the details so well.  I was taken in to be started off on the Sunday, I was still there on the Wednesday, so an epidural was planned whuch went wrong, only anaehetised my legs which kept falling off the bed, it was hilarious looking back, but not at the time!  I'm attending church in the morning as our vicar Lissa, has rang me each week and I want to support her back.  I like how they have said disposable hymn sheets only, seeing as we can't sing what's the point?!  Obviously many don't go to church or they would know that most dispensed with hymn books as it is now on a pull down screen for us all to see.  We are having left over spagh bol for tea, well we will when it thaws out.  I've found a Walter Presents, Box set called Thicker than water, started last night and it's looking good so will watch some more tonight.  Take care all, love Carol x
