Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Carol, i can't believe they will only treatment people who will survive. You will be talking of 10's of thousands being let die. It'll never happen that'd cause a riot all over the country with all the families and friends playing hell.. And what about medical ethics or what ever it called.

Don't worry it'll sort itself out soon, best wishes..Billy xxx

  • Well  Billy the saga goes on!  Oncologist cancelled just a phone call.  Fine but the cancer unit have us doing bloods there on Monday so another phone call, engaged, engaged, finally through and treatment Wednesday but need bloods so call surgery.  Twenty minutes of hanging on phone then told no appointments being made!!  I have to go through the whole rigmarole again, can they send a district nurse, no because they work separately to the surgery so not guaranteed to come in time.  Another five minutes of waiting and we now have an appointment for Monday morning.  No wonder my blood pressure is high, I can't even get that checked again at the moment.  If the corona virus doesn't get me this will!  Sainsbury had no bread, no flour and no toilet rolls, two guys in their forties were looking for flour, one said that they couldn't make bread or pizza bases, I smiled to myself as they would have no idea where to start if they had to. Hubby has had a bad night with phantom pain again we think it's the treatment, but who knows? Younger daughter has just rang, Harry is driving her mad already and it's only one day off achool up to now.  Stay safe all of you.  Love Carol x

Just touched counter to stop myself falling over, and she played hell. If I'd fell on the floor would they have left me there..any explained again and pick up Monday good job I've got some meds left at home or I'd be struggling.. Just hope chemist still have new dosage when I go..

    Love... Billy xxx

  • My husband was so tired last night he fell asleep at the dinner table watching TV.  I woke him up and he said he was just resting his eyes but he was soundly asleep.  By 8.45 pm he was asleep again and I woke him up, he got cross so I left him alone, I can't cope with these moods of fine one minute, grumpy the next, but five minutes later he went to bed and slept till 8am this morning.  He's slept most of   the afternoon and his one foot is swelling badly, it's all so stressful.  Faye face timed and is looking worried as they are all now in the house falling over each other.  Lisa shouted at Harry as he was rolling around under the table and kept saying Mummy, Mummy, so she shouted at him and threatened to tie him to the post in the garden and put tape over his mouth, hence tears and you wouldn't really do that Mummy, would you?  They never fall out but working from home with children isn't going to be easy.  Me, I've stayed home safe, done some jobs and just had a gin and tonic, I've broken into the kids eggs for the Easter egg hunt, it's driven me to chocolate, but as they're not coming I'm not posting them three hundred miles! Billy everything is hard in normal times and it's doubly so now.  Jean rang me she had just got out of hospital after her kidney removal and all the doors were shut after she left, emiergencies only.  It's her golden wedding today but not much celebration going on.  See you tomorrow, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol,
I hope Norman is feeling at least a little better.  Good to see he did manage breakfast for the first time in days.  Hope that with your online order, you get what you ordered and don't have too many missing items because they are unavailble.  Shopping here is dreadful at present  It was lovely of Lisa to organise for you.  It not just large gatherings we have been stopped from doing now, it's pretty much everything.  Cafe's,restaurants are basically closing except for take-out meals.  Schools will close on Tuesday till after the school holidays (14th April), at which time they decide whether they go back or not.  Cinemas, clubs, casinos and so much more will all close.  We are supposed to be minimising travel preferably staying in the area that we live in. All non essential business's it looks like have to close Tuesday.  IF that's the case Deana will be home.  On a humourous note, I did read something funny just yesterday.  "It's going to get ugly, hairdressers and beautician businesses to close."  At least here they can still remain open, I do wonder how long for though.  Even churches aren't allowed to hold services.
Probably not really a good idea for Norman especially to be out and about unless it's essential.  Surely they can't just treat those who are likely to survive treatment.  So wrong, and I'm sure there  would be an uproar if that were to happen.  I think you are right about the oldies coping better with the situation.  There was rationing during the war, shortages and lots more they've lived through.  I didn't, but am more than happy to self-isolate, we have winter coming and that alone makes me more than happy to stay inside.  It's good to hear Norman's treatment will go ahead on Wednesday and that you managed to get an appointment for his bloods. It will be interesting to see if I can get an appointment in a couple of weeks to get a script for my blood presure tablets.  Time will tell.

Billy, Sorry to hear both yourself and Bren have been unwell.  Good, that you think it's gone now.  The panic buying is ridiculous, I'm sure they do end up throwing some of it out, although most of it here hasn't been fresh produce that they are buying.  I think they say 70 as a high proportion that age do have some health issues.  Although I think anyone with health problems regardless of age should take extra precautions at present.

Not a lot happening here, have spent a bit of time in the yard, while the weather has still been ok, although it is starting to get cooler now.  I did take drive today (probably the last for quite a while) I ordered some perfume for Deana for her birthday.  It arrived last week and was exactly what I ordered but not what Deana wanted, so rather than post it back and then have them resend, I drove to Melbourne and changed it.  No Rotary meetings, or Bunnings bbq's, or market as they have all been cancelled for the time being.  I do have lots of yarn and books, so guess I'll get the knitting needles out and be reading a lot.  We are all ok here.

Stay safe and take care.  Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue thought I'd got rid of my bug fine for two days then it's back,. Tried specialist yesterday on phone he's not working either.. Went to Dr with prescription everything locked up receptionist told me put it in letter box on outside wall..

Hopefully doing a small shop this morning just some odd little bits run out of.

Dog walker only coming once a week she's worried about getting it and passing it to her customers so I've got an extra job now, hope my knees hold up, it's not fair to Bella she loves to go and doesn't understand what's going on. But only short ones.

Dear Carol hope things are going OK for you both your in our thoughts and prayers.

    Love to all..... Billy xxx

  • Hi Billy,
Hopefully your bug will be gone in no time.  Even your specialist is not working.  I would have thought all Drs would still be working, taking extra precautions but still working.  I do know they are working on telehealth here for more Doctors.  We actually used it with Neil from our hospital to oncologist in Geelong.
With luck you'll be able to get all the items you need when you go shopping.
Surely the dog walker could pick up Bella with minimal contact if she is worried about the virus.  If you end up walking Bella start with short walks and maybe build up to a little long over time.  I too, hope your knees hold up.

Take care, love to all. Sue xx

  • Hi sue

Shopping was fine got everything apart from only allowed 3 bottles of fizzy drink per customer, no sign up they take it back at cash desk, only 25 allowed in shop at one time lucky i got straight in.

Dog walker is trying to work to the guidelines the government have given us, just shows it not right for everyone.

Hope you are well and plenty of shops nearby.. Love.... Billy xxx

  • Dear Sue and Billy and any other person left out there it's been a weird week.  Norman is getting a little stronger each day but he shakes terribly when trying to walk, the surgery was empty apart from us so you would think the nurse would do a good job, how stupid am I?  So 9am yesterday I got a call from the mara unit she hadn't taken a full blood count so could we please go to the hospital for urgent bloods this meant that I had to go back and forth six times yesterday, so much for staying home.  When I collected him after treatment, despite a phone call from the oncologist saying he was having a double dose to last six weeks this hadn't been passed on so we're going through it all again in three weeks. My lovely neighbours have got me shopping and then seen me going in and out yesterday they must think I'm mad.  The hospital was as normal, no masks, no social distancing, canteen still open and six in a lift!  So on the way home the first time we called at the village shop, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and there was a woman stood outside with a woolen scarf wrapped round her head, get in the queue she tells me only one in the shop, where's the queue I asked bemused, it's in the road she says through layers of wool, I don't think I'll bother I tell her!!  My Tesco delivery came, are you in lock down he asks, yes, go behind your closed door he instructs and dumps it in the porch so I had to drag all the heavy bags inside. all my neighbours wanted to know how I had got this, because my clever daughter sorted it out for me, 0h they all say!!  Sarah can't come as cleaning according to a male government isn't essential, yes it is!  If they had to clean a bathroom, en suite downstairs cloaks, change beds all the time due to night sweats, do the washing, cooking, shopping and hospital visits they might re consider, stupid men. I managed a walk through the woods at the back of our house and it was glorious, I need some exercise and sunshine, I met my neighbour Maureen walking her dog we kept nine feet apart, she's lost her Mexico holiday and can't see her daughter as after three years of trying she's now 12 weeks pregnant, it's all so frustrating.  My eldest daughter is still cross at me because I went and visited Sue, but I don't regret it as we now won't see each other for weeks.  She had sent Gordy food shopping and he brought back ridiculous stuff they didn't need plus two bottles of cider, well at least you can get drunk together I laugh, she didn't find that amusing, she seriously needs to find a sense of humour. Lisa is struggling working from home, Tugs is home, Harry has home schooling and she's lost her cleaner, it seems that as usual women are bearing the brunt of this lock down.  Billy sorry to hear of your troubles, your the male exception and bearing the load, could you leave Bren to walk the dog.  Sue I hadn't realised how bad it was at your end, so pleased you have family with you, I wish I'd got my nails done!!  I read a funny piece yesterday about hairdressers closing it said, we will get to see the nations true colours!  So we read yesterday that we can actually have a drive out in our car if we don't get out of it, hubby is very excited about having a drive 0ver the moors as he has been housebound for weeks.  So I'm sorry I've  been missing, I did start a post on Tuesday but it got lost in the nether regions and I really couldn't be bothered to do it again, I should have known that good friends would be worried and I'm sorry for that.  Take care everyone.  Much love, Carol x

  • Hi Carol... and all you lovely people that pop on here ..

Just wanted to say thinking of you... you think you'd get extra help somehow ... unfortunately think it's only gonna get worse ..  hopefully it will give everyone new priority... appreciate the little things .. too many took those little things for granted ..

It sounds a nightmare day you had .. back and forth .. but hold on in there .. and yes sometimes we need to take a little chance, like meeting someone spiecial in our lives .. like you say cramped in a lift is wrong ..  l watched 10 downing st and a groop of 6/7 M Ps went in all together while the reporter was telling everyone to self isolate .. like a speech in the house of commons.. shower a couple behind the speaker whispering together .. surly they should be setting an example not do what we say , not as we do ...

Well I've got my sister's funeral tomoz .. only close family sitting appart when we need a hand to hold .. and my granddaughter just starting her second round of chemo yesterday... she text and said she was getting her chemo at 11.30 p.m and lasting 4 hours through the night .. can't even visit her .. as only mum and dad .. thank God for texts ..

Was going to see the two little grand kids and sit outside their kitchen window , just to see them .. but was told it would upset kids as they'd not understand ... yes I agree .. so video call is priceless .. but oh my arms ache to hold them ..

Well you keep looking after your self as much as you can Carol .. big vertual hug winging its way over .. thinking of you lots .. and all your buddies here too .. stay safe as possible ... Chrissie x
