Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi sue hope you have a lovely boxing day, and a lovely time at cass'es. Also have a lovely New year. Love.......

    Billy xx

  • Hi Carol, and all hope you had a good time at Christmas, especially all the lovely smells wafting the kitchen and hope someone else did all the cleaning up afterwards,. Hope you've all sobered up ready for the new year party's. Hoping all well enough to have a good time. Love to all...... Billy xx xxx

  • We've had a lovely family Christmas and hubby did well until yesterday when he'd had a horrible night and wasn't up to going out, I knew this would happen as a few days of company and eating and drinking catches up.  So we left him home alone and went to Bowes museum which was freezing cold but we enjoyed the exhibition and Harry loved the lego building which took 40,000 bricks to build in the shape of the museum.  We came home and collected hubby and went for a meal despite all the turkey that was left (in the bin today).  They've now gone to Scotland and we miss them, Harry wanted me to go but hell be fine when he sees William. Faye is arriving Monday afternoon and we have a scan in the morning but not sure if we get the results the same day.  My tooth is still not good but I've managed to nibble on enough food to keep me going and the gin has helped!  I've changed beds, done two tonne of washing and caught up with myself, hubby bought me a load of make up in a carrying case so I've been sorting that out.  We received some lovely gifts and so did the children.  Hope you've all survived and haven't eaten too much.  Love Carol x

  • So once again our plans have gone awry, Faye and Ella have what we had and are not fit to travel.  Hubby is relieved that he won't get anything from them, I'm upset that having got everything ready it's now just us two!  I've had a big gin and tonic with strawberry slices, a chunk of milk chocolate and overdosed on Call the Midwife, life sucks sometimes and its not fair.  So a boring week ahead rather than giggles, kisses and snuggles in bed, I'm going to miss it all.  I can't even go down for Ella's birthday as hubby is not up to being home alone.  I'm feeling sad as its the anniversary of my lovely Mum's horrible death from dementia and it never gets easier.  Let's hope we get some good news after tomorrow's scan.  Love to you all, Carol xx

  • Hi Billy and Carol,

How was your Christmas Billy?  My Boxing Day was lovely.  Food was amazing,  Seafood, turkey, port, ham, salads and hot veg.  They will be eating it for a week, there was so much.  Just don't like the drive, it takes so long.  3 hours each way.  Left here at 11am, got home at 1.30am.  At least I spent long there than the drive.

Carol,  Your Christmas sounds lovely.  It's such a shame that It catches up with hubby.  Hope he is much improved now,  The museum trip sounds good too.  Someone at Cass's received some Leggo for Christmas and most of us had a go at making the critter it was supposed to make.  It was taking shape by the time I left.  I was in micro leggo, very fiddly to put together.  Sorry to hear your tooth still isn't great but at least you managed to nibble on all the goodies.  So dissappointing for both of you that Faye and Ella are not well and are now not coming to visit.  Hopefully you will get some mucn needed good news after tomorrows scan.

We are having a small group of friends for tea and to see the New Year in tomorrow.  Just three couples and their children.  A piece of pork done on the spit for tea, a few drinks and a good night hopefully.  The weather is much better too for tomorrow after our heat wave of the last four days.  It reached 41 today but has cooled considerably after a thunderstorm and south/westerly winds.  Not much happening until the weekend.  Saturday I'll go to Melbourne for the twins birthday dinner, then Sunday have a Bunnings bbq.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue, shame about the long journey but at least you enjoyed things,. Our Christmas was nice having Xmas meals even if i cooked it. And plenty on TV to keep us going.. Xxx

Hoping everyone had a good time teeth problems and all.

    Love to all Billy. Xxxxxxx

  • Dear Chriss, this has brought tears to my eyes, or maybe its the large gin and tonic, the antibiotics or the strong pain killers, either way, your support and mine has been a blessing.  Much love, Carol xx

  • Just to say the dentist agreed that I could have a drink!!
