Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Dear Carol,

I wish we had your beautiful weather, it has been cold and wet here for a couple of days now, even have the heather on and it was officially the first day of summer yesterday.  Cold and wet weather is predicted until next weekend.  It will be lovely if you can manage some drives to the moors on nice days.
Bree does some wonderful cakes, all self taught.  She amazes me, she works full time, three kids, I really don't know where she find the time.
It's proving to be fun with the cats, have already replaced numnerous baubles that have found their way from the lounge to the family room and kitchen, We hear them rolling across the tiles.

I'm going to the movies later, going to see "Fisherman's Friend" and "Judy".  Have heard great reviews for Fisherman's Friend.  Apart from that a very lazy day here.

Billy. Happy Anniversary to both of you.  47 years is quite an achievement.

Lots of love to all, take care.  Sue xx

  • The new photo is of Lisa, Ant and Harry the day after our Golden  wedding do, at the Lakes, having climbed to the top of one of the mountains, Harry was very proud of himself.  So bitterly cold Sue but sunshine, when you're expexti sun it's annoying to get rain!  I didn't fancy the fisherman's friend but enjoyed Judy.  Lots done today, Sarah has helped move the furniture so I can put the tree up and I've washed the cushion covers and the suite, cleaned the fridge out and feel content that things are getting done early.  Hubby has gone out and I'm now concentrating on Ella's cardigan as its difficult to knit cable at night!  So a shirt post today.  Love to you all,  Carol xx

  • Hi everyone! I don't know where these last few weeks have gone! I have just got myself up to date on all your new posts, you've all been busy!! Work has been especially hectic as we are so short staffed. I have perfected 'the look' and I'm not a freaked to use it! New treatment started last Tuesday. He's ok at the moment but very lethargic and has a backache. He's also developed a nasty rash on his head so we're giving that some tlc with cream to see if we can fix it. Last Thursday he had a brain scan with an appointment for the result (os so we thought) today. When we got there the receptionist said that his appointment had been cancelled although we hadn't been informed. His oncologist saw us anyway and said that although he hadn't had the official report back from the scan, he had looked at it himself and couldn't see any metastasis. I really don't think he would have said that unless he was sure so we've taken that as good news. Next appointment is dec 16th. The Christmas tree is up and twinkling away in the corner. I opted for a real one this year as I've never had one before! If the needles drop much I probably won't have one again either!! It's been a lovely day today but my goodness it's cold! I'm not looking forward to riding my bike to work at 7.30 in the morning. It's nearly a year since I was knocked off my bike and broke my wrist. I was on my way to work at the time, I don't go the same way anymore!

hope you're all nice and warm, better think about dinner, love Anthea xx

  • So pleased you've perfected the look Anthea, it works wonders, this is such a busy time of the year for us women and it passes so quickly.  I've done my class this morning every other one was a Christmas song and then we cooled down to Band Aids song which is hardly cheerful!  I made the others laugh as I said do people actually listen to the words, who wants to dance to a song about starving children in Africa and all the misery that accompanies the song!  Not quite the same as jingle bells.  Anyway I had a shower and went to buy Ella a birthday present, I found a beautiful pale pink party frock in soft net and with sequined unicorns all over it, I sent a photo to Mummy but she never got back to me so I bought it.  When I arrived home she'd sent me a photo of her present for Ella, you've guessed it, exactly the same dress, we're three hundred miles apart and out of all the hundreds of shops we chose the same dress, hey ho back to TK Maxx again, oh the trauma.  Hubby went to see the Toffs and they've invited him for Christmas lunch which is so nice, he looks so much better, mind last night he was coughing in the kitchen, I think I'm allergic to this house he states, I bit my tongue because I was on the verge of saying, it's a pity you weren't allergic to cigarettes, but I kept quiet, I've never spent so much time not saying things, it's always been in my nature to tell it as it is.  Fed and watered so feet up, I seem to get tired easily at the moment.  Love to you all, Carol xx

  • Dear Carol,

Another lovely picture.  It's cold here also, no sunshine though only rain.  Fisherman's Friend was really good, I really only went because A few people had told me how good it was,, but I really enjoyed it.  Judy was such an eye opener.  The studio really has a lot to answser for, I found it really sad, especially towards the end in the cafre/restaurant when they had the cake for her.  You've had a really productive day getting all that done.  I'll get some knitting done today while Eli is asleep.  I have him all day today, Deana had a flower run this morning, so we've both been up since 7am.
Fancy buying the exact same dress even though you are so far apart.  Glad to hear Norman is looking so much better despite his lingering cough.

Anthea, Not surprised that the last few weeks have flown for you with worked, your husbands treatment and Christmas also.  The treatments do make you very tired.  And that does sound like good news, but I guess you will know more Dec 167th.  Real Christmas trees are wonderful, I love the smell they leave in house, mind you I haven't had a real one although a couple of girlfriends do. Don't blame you not going the same way to work after being knocked off your bike.  Not sure I would be riding after that happening.

I had Rotary last night and of course today I have Eli, will be a lobng day byt the time Nick gets home. Friiends might call in today for a visit, but not much else happening.

Take care everyone and love to all.  Sue xx

  • We went and picked up our form from McMillan and she'd put notes in saying what needed finshing off.  Leave until tomorrow I say and we put it away.  But as usual I get ignored, I'm trying to get steak and onions grilled but he's got the form out, what do we put here he asks, don't do it now I'm cooking the television is on full blast with the Minder music shouting out. But he ignores me, he drops his good pen, I open the grill and the fat bursts open spraying boiling hot fat all over my front and my face, it really hurt so I grab a tea towel drench it in cold water and hold it on my face, my pens broken he says whilst I've got my head in the sink!!  I go and get changed as I'm now soaking wet with a sore front and face, he's still uoset about the pen as Faye bought it, I dump his tea I front of him and he pokes the onions around his plate, these look raw he complained, oh my God!!  If he didn't have cancer his dinner would be on his head and its not the first time it would have happened, having a glass of wine to calm down.  I'll answer you all tomorrow. Xx

  • Dear Carol,

Of course he ignores you, for whatever reason he wants the forms done right now.  I can still hear Neil almost panicking when he couldn't get various forms filled in quickly enough.  Sorry about his pen breaking though, being a gift from Faye.  Hope the fat hasn't burnt you badly.  Would have been painful, and probably still is.  I got a chuckle with him saying the onions looked raw.  I wouldn't have been as calm as you though, he would have worn dinner.  Enjoy your glass of wine.

Nick is in Melbourne overnight tonight with work, He'll be back Friday evening.  But with him gone, and Deana having to go to the flower market again in the morning, I have to get Eli up and ready for daycare, May even have to take him to daycare if Deana doesn't get back early enough.  As the shop opens at 9.30.  A quiet day today,  Tomorrow will be quiet also.

Take care, and love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue and all the sorry for not being on for a while (if anyone missed me), you know what it like problems croping up, wife just got over a bug and lovely lady gives it to me. Just went to Dr appointment for brens weight, nurse weighs bren studup with me supporting her and measured her waist and then says don't come again with bren not being able to support herself, so nearly waisted journey, hope everyone is good as can be love... Billy xx xxx

  • Hi everyone, just got home from night out with Mary so ill catch up with you all tomorrow.  Much love, Carol x

  • Hi Billy and everyone,

Had noticed you were awol, hoping you were just busy, but sorry to hear both Bren and yourself have not been well.  You would think they would have reslised Bren is unable to support herself.  There are numourous ways to get her weight without her standing.  They used to weigh Neil in bed when he was in hospital.  Brilliant really, for those unable to stand or bear weight. Did you manage to go to dinner for your anniversary?  Was hoping you did.

I'm rather tired tonight (but well), I was up very early so I could watch Eli and get him ready for daycare and he slept very late, while I'm struggling to stay awake, so I'll hear him.  Had a nap this afternoon, just to keep me going till bedtime.

Carol, Hope you had a wonderful evening with Mary.

Take care, and Love to all.  Sue xx
