Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Thanks sue she is getting slightly better each day now keeping fingers crossed. Hope your well as can be, love  ... Billy

  • Hi Carol,

Sorry to hear you've not been well... Get well soon.

    Take care.  Sue xx

  • Hi everyone, I've had a terrible bad back since going to the pictures and spent all night breathing in and out with pain radiating through my lungs, I even woke hubby at 5am to rub voltarol on me then slept for a few hours, apart from food Shopping I did nothing and then wrapped myself in a blanket.  We did nothing yesterday but Margaret came to see me as her friend Joan had upset me by being rude about Mary to my face at dinner.  I can't believe that someone can hold a grudge for 47 years, it's pathetic, Joan lost her husband to cancer two years ago, knowing my situation she could have been nicer.  It's getting really chilly at night and my hands are frozen so I'm signing off and putting my fire on.  Love Carol x

  • Hi Carol,, we've had heating on for weeks, bren had Dr to see her this afternoon said she's still got infection and temperature take paracetamol four times a day, still waiting for prescription if we're going to get one she's still in pain when she goes luckily not as often as she was, hope you get sorted soon, best wishes,,.. Love Billy xxx

  • Dear,
People can and do hold grudges for year, but so sorry Joan was rude to you.  Hoping your back is feeling a lot better now.
We have a week of warmer weather starting , later this week we even get to mid 20's, it will be lovely.  I've had a busy day, up early.  Eli isn't well, Deana woke me early as she couldn't get a Dr's appointment for him and was wondering if his symptoms warranted a visit to Emergency.  I said to take him as his breathing wasn't anywhere near normal.  So he spent 3 hours here then they transferred him to Geelong, a much bigger hospital with a dedicated children's ward.  They thought he had pneumonia but it is bronchitis, at least they came home this evening and he is much better and his breathing is closer to normal.

Bree came down with the kids, we were all going to the cemetery to look at headstones to see what we wanted for Neil, so Bree and I did that minus Deana, so I think we have that sorted now, just have to wait for them to give me quote and pay for it.  Colby was very naughty but he surprised us all by asking why Poppy wasn't here, he misses him as he liked it when he used to make paper aeroplanes with him.  So sweet after being so naughty, and reduced both Bree and I to tears.  Then after they'd left I had to wash the floors to get the sticky juice of it that they'd spilt.
Deana is going to the flower market in the morning so i'll have Eli till she gets home, but she is taking the day off to look after Eli.

You you feel better Carol.  Take care.  Love Sue xx

  • Dear Billy,

Glad the Dr visited Bren today and that she appears to be improving rbrn though she is still in pain and has an infection and temperatures.  Hope you're getting some help from the carer's.  Have they started visiting yet?

    Take care.  Love Sue xx

  • Hi sue still got morning carers but told others not to bother, dinner and evening there's nothing for them to do night Time they come at 7.00pm to put bren to bed it's to early,, morning one they come about 10.00 brens up about 8.00 but they give her a good wash when they come, I'm trying to get times changed so it's better for her, had plenty of rain lately and more to come, hope you're OK.. Love Billy xxx

P.s bren not to bad now but still problems with infection.

  • Dear Sue, I'm so sorry that Eli has been so poorly, it's horrible when little ones are unwell.  It's such a good job that you are all together now it must make life easier.  Billy, it's going to take time to get back on track, I had carers for Mum and its difficult to get it right.  Norman has not been one hundred percent fit since Sunday, he is wheezing a lot and looks drained but the weather isn't helping either as it's so wet and cold.  I did zumba but very carefully as I'm still fragile, hate being unwell, it's not me!!  Christine got annoyed with Dorothy as we were paying our money for the tickets to see The Bodyguard, ooh where are you going Dorothy asks, to the theatre we tell her and you're coming, I didn't know about it she says I'm not sure if I can make it!!  You bloody well better says Christine I've bought you a ticket, So it's now in her diary, we were a little cross with her as obviously nothing is wrong with her memory she's just on a different planet to the rest of us!  I told hubby when I got home, he said she's using it as a get out clause now and no wonder we were cross.  Lisa rang her cold is a little better, she loves her flowers and is coming for Christmas as Harry wants to be here because I make Christmas Fun, how cute is that, I'm thrilled as it's not real without Children.  So I am going to have a glass of wine and chill out.  Love to you all.  Carol x

  • Dear All, hubby has his cough back so I'm being firm and if it gets worse I'll ring the GP as he always leaves it too late.  Mary and I had lunch at Teesside Park and I took my trousers back, nearly all the roads from here to Teesside are dug up and there are traffic lights galore everywhere, I've had two siren police cars heading straight for me today on my side of the road, where they expected me to go I've no idea, I just stopped and closed my eyes hoping they missed me!  Surely putting everyone else at risk isn't worth it, I did read the other day that deaths in police chases have risen drastically, so lucky me.  I must admit I haven't been 100% this week, it must be the change in the weather.  Billy I hope Bren is on the mend and there's more calm in your life, so hard to be unwell your self and look after your loved one as well.  Take care, love Carol x

  • Hi Carol and everyone. Had a few bad weeks. Got three new cancer sores. Saw my oncologist few days ago for check up. He seems quite calm and upbeat about them. He said this is the pattern my cancer will follow. I asked him would it ever go inward and he said highly unlikely. My girls said I have to hang on to those words and believe him. I know he wouldn’t say it lightly so it really helps. I have district nurses calling on me twice a week to change the dressings. They are lovely girls. I have also got dreadful backache. Doc thinks it’s arthritis because I’ve got it in my knees and shoulders but I get a bit worried and silly and link it to the cancer. I panic about every ache and pain. We have flood barriers up in Shrewsbury after all the rain. It’s definately colder especially the nights. Winter is here I fear. Don’t like the dark nights. Makes it seem longer when you can’t get out in the garden or have the doors open. Hope Norman’s cough doesn’t get worse Carol. This weather doesn’t help. Made my flu jab appt today. It’s that time of the year again. Hope your little grandson is better now Sue. Lots of love to you all. Gloria xxx
