Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Billy,

I know you you wanted Bren to come home but I'm really not sure they should have let that happen until the effects of the laxatives had settled down a bit. It's wonderful though how you care for her.  I'm sure she knows she has a good one.

Take care and hopefully today won't be quite like last night.

    Sue xx

  • Dear Carol.  Such a shame you lost a good friend over jeans.  Jeans can look great, with the right accessories, high heels etc.  I wear them quite a bit, have a few pairs.  I have clothes I wear at home, do housework in, cook in, the cats sit on my knee and knead, (so they get pulled).  Then I have others I go out in, Jeans/pants with a nice top/jumper, day dresses, cocktail/after 5, evening/formal.  You would be the same.  We grew up with that, but now.  I'm not a snob, but I am often shocked with what peeple wear to various functions.

Deana and Nick have found a tenant for their house, which is good, they'll move in around the 18th/20th October.

Had Eli today so didn't do much but enjoy him, although I was surprised I didn't pass out at one stage.  He loves anybody to blow a feather, and for almost an hour I was constantly blowing this feather, he wanted it to go higher and higher, till I was getting light headed.  The joy and laughter from him was well worth it.

Take care and love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear Sue, I can just see you puffing away and doing a Grandma twirl before you collapsed, you should have seen Norman blowing up our little bed, it's the most work he's done in over two years!  Faye face timed last night and Ella had her unicorn fluffy bedtime all in one on and as Faye was telling us about her first day at college on her course, a little fluffy unicorn head kept appearing on the screen so we couldn't see her Mummy.  Alfie has been asked to spend three hours showing parents of new children around the school, he poked his head in as well and said Grandma I don't even know my own way round the school I've only been here two weeks!  Still it's good he's been noticed as being responsible already.  So pleased all is going well for you.  Carol xx

  • Dear sue thanks for your concern bren still in pain not as bad though still going quite regular but again not as bad five times tonight up to now as you can guess I'm tyred,, hopefully sort carers out today sometime coming to see us about it, going to try to make bedroom look right today just a bit of moving around i hope, hope you had (have) a good day what ever day it is down there, best wishes to all your family, hope things are going right,.... Love Billy

  • Hi Billy and ladies, pleased to see things are getting a little better Billy, it takes time to sort these things out, no wonder you're hyped.  I've been to a McMillan coffee morning but went to the wrong house so I called Marylinn, what number are you, number 10, oh I'm at number 9, they're not in she says laughing, she's here having coffee.  So lots of friends, cake and chat, Val who've I haven't seen for ages came over, I've had lung cancer and half my lung removed , I'm so sorry I say, she's been given the all clear but now finds friends are not bothering as they had before.  I explained that lots of people think they're bothering you but to look at it from a positive point of view, tell them you're ready to get back into the swing of things, I will she says.  I'm off to the pictures now, and we're having a meal afterwards, so off out in the torrential rain again

Love to you all.  Carol xx

  • Dear Carol,

Poor Norman blowing up the bed.. It is so tiring, I know from blowing that feather, felt like I'd run 10 miles.  I love the sound of Ell's fluffy unicorn onsie.  Was that the start of term for Faye or did she start part way in.  I'm guessing it was at the beginning and students get a long break during your summer, like ours do (our long school break is from Christmas to end of Jan for school even longer for University.)  It sounds like Alfie is very responsible being asked to show parents around the school.  You;d be so proud of him.

Your McMillian coffee morning sounds good, lots of friends, cake and a good time.  I think a lot of the time when friends stop calling/visiting because of a serious illness, it's because they didn't know what to say or how to react when you were ill, then when you have recovered they feel quilty because they didn't visit/call.  She should tell them she wants to get back into things though.  What movie did you see?  Was it good?

Thursday I had such a busy day.  Deana had a parcel asrriving (they usually arrive between 1-3) so I planned my day around that.  Showered early then went down the street to buy what I wanted for the slice I was making for supper at the movie night.  OI get home and the ticket from the postie is waiting for me in the door.  So I unpack the groceries and back down the strrett to get Deana tro sign the ticket so I could pick it up later once the postie arrives back at the post office.  She said could finish early enough to do it, so I leave it there.  Then home to make the slice.  I do the base, then while it's cooling I go back down the street as I decided to get my wedding. engagement.eternity rings resized so I can wear them.  They are getting done but I was surprised at how expensive it's going to be.  Then back home to do the top layers of the slice, and get it back in the oven.  Just finished the dishes and Deana rings to see if I can pick up her parcel as Nick be finished in time.  So back down to her, then the post office and then back home to get the slice cut and on a tray.  By the time I got ready didn't have much to spare to get to the movie in time.  If you get a chance to see "Ride Like a Girl" it's worth seeing, we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Friday was spent doing washing and catching up on things I hadn't done all week.  Then last night just as we finished tea a very dear friend of Neil's popped in.  I had been thinking he wasn't going to bother keeping up but with work and teaching his son to drive, and just the usual things around the house  he hadn't had a chance to visit.  So it was lovely to see him.

Today a quiet day although I will go down the street to get a few things (cat food, think they prefer getting fed), and I'm cooking tea tonight, tuna patties, I said to Deana I'd been feeling like them, haven't had them for so long.  Tomorrow shoujld be quiet, then Monday Bree is coming and the three of us are going to the cemetary to look at headstones, so we can work out what we want and what to put on it.  It's time to get that done, Neil has been gone 1 year next Wednesday.

Have a great weekend, love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear Billy,

It's good to hear that Bren has improved some.  Caring for someone can be very tiring but you do so much for Bren, you have to be exhausted.  Hopefully once the carers start coming regularly you will get enough help to make a difference for you.  Hope you get the bedroom looking how you want without too much effort.  It's Saturday lunchtime as I'm typing this.  I'm guessing very early Saturday morning for you.  Overall things going well here.  I'm enjoying having the kids here (my youngest daughter, her husband and young son),  They moved in just recently.

Best wishes to you and Bren also.  Love Sue xx
