Hi,
So sorry to read about your diagnosis and welcome to the forum.
First you need to accept yourself that you have cancer - not saying it or writing it down won't make it go away, but it could stop you getting the help and support appropriate to someone who has a cancer diagnosis. This can be very difficult I know as this means that it starts to become real and not a nightmare which will go away once you wake up.
The hardest person for me to tell was my wife. She wasn't with me when I had the endoscopy which showed there was "a large lump" in my oseophagus, but she was with me when this was confirmed as an inoperable and incurable cancer.
I then told my son, Dad and other family members before posting about it on Facebook and telling people I didn't mind them sharing the news. I did this to prevent any misunderstandings and awkwardness, but an unexpected outcome was a lot of good wishes and support from dozens of people. Not for everyone I know, but it worked for me.
Best wishes
Dave
