Waiting for my masectomy

They are helping me by holding my hand each step of the way and have made me make the most of every day and not letting this cancer hold me down ... The hardest part of it all is my 5 year old granddaughter who l adore and she me ... It's the thought of her that keeps me wanting to take on the things to come ... I am truly blessed ... But l just want to open my heart an send a big hug to all the bravest of you who have to walk this path alone , your not ... Reach out to these.wonderfull sites who bring us all together ... Hi Chrisie,

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad to hear that you have great family support. How are you feeling at the moment? If you are able, it is worth trying to make some special memories with your family, especially your wee granddaughter.

I have had two bouts of primary breast cancer. The first time I had a lumpectomy and the second I had a double mastectomy. If it’s of any consolation to you I found the mastectomies much easier than the lumpectomy.

Try to keep yourself distracted by keeping busy. Keep in touch and let us know how it all goes. We are always here for you whenever you want to chat.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Chrisie, welcome to the forum and big hugs back!   You will see if you check out my profile that I had breast ca about 20 years ago and more recently 2 lots of ovarian but I am still here, thank the Lord, touch wood and all that.

Hope your op goes okay, do let us know how you get on, as and when you are able.

    Hazel xx

  • Hi, I had my mastectomy yesterday and got home from hospital today. I usually deal with everything on my own but it has been nice to have my family and friends to rely on. Everyone has been amazing and it really does help. Hope your operation goes well xxx

  • Hi Ali,

I am glad to hear that your mastectomy went well and that you are already out of hospital.

When you have a cancer diagnosis you suddenly realise the importance of support from family and friends. I am glad to hear that you have turned.to them, as this is so much easier than trying to deal with everything on your lonesome.

Please keep us updated on your progress.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Just lil update ... I am nearly 4weeks post masectomy ... I'm glad it's over but had a really good expierance in hospital even though a few probs along the way with a much longer stay in hospital then was planned ...  The staff an drs and other patients were amazing and I found it wasn't half as painful as l was expecting an found even looking at it after was o.k too ... We all laughed so much on the ward that l couldn't have hoped for a better experience seeing what everyone was in for ... I really believe that has seen me through although l know l was so lucky with every one there ....

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and l had the biggest hug from my lil grand daughter that was like a rainbow after the rain. ...

One saying really helped me and that's " it's not waiting for the storm to pass ... It's about learning to dance in the rain"   xx big hug to all xx
