playing the waiting game again

In June 2015 I had my kidney removed after a diagnosis of grade 3 renal cell carcinoma. Luckily it was confined to the kidney and hadn't spread so I didn't need further treatment except from 6 monthly scans. I always find the waiting for results after my scans difficult but thankfully - so far - they have been clear.  About 4 weeks ago I thought I had something digging in my back and asked a friend to have a look. She said I had a mole and that it ought to be looked at. My doctor referred me to a dermatologist with the dreaded " you will be seen within 2 weeks". I saw the dermatologist on Monday the 12th who said it needed to be removed. I went in the next day for the procedure under local anaesthetic. I am now waiting for the results of the biopsy which I have been told will take 4-6 weeks. I am trying to remain positive that it will turn out to be nothing but the waiting is always difficult.

  • Welcome to the forum OverTheRainbow,

It's good that you got your friend to check your back and you went to the doctor to get the mole checked properly but can understand how difficult the wait can be for results to come through. Many members here know how anxious and worrying this time can be and I'm sure they will post soon to offer their support and advice. In the meantime continue to stay positive, concentrate on enjoying time with your family and friends over the Christmas period if you can and let us know what happens when you get your results. We'll have our fingers crossed it's good news.

    All the best,
