I know that after my kidney cancer surgery in may, the reality of it didnt hit me for a couple of months, it all happened so quickly basically from the first exam .. blood in urine to the operation within 2 weeks... since then ive had 2 CT scans and a pet scan, I have an 11 mm nodule in my left lung, which showed up on the pet scan at 1.5 which is very good , but obviously
I am still being monitered, my last scan was 2 weeks ago, no change which was again reassuring , my next CT scan is March next year.
But how do you get advise about diet , Ive asked my doctors and they say eat a balanced diet which i have been to some extent , except ive googled to much ..
prior to breakfast I am eating at least 6 crushed garlic cloves and Washing them down with green tea... then I luiqidise strawbwerries, rasperries blueberries and that usually is a pint at least... I then an hour or so later might have some sugar free cereal or organic porridge with skimmed milk, lunch maybe humus with another 4 ot 5 cloves of garlic and some salad made into a sandwich or a couple of wholemeal rolls, mid afternoon juicing carrots and ginger a pint.. evening meal fish in breadcrums salad baked potato more garlic .. plus a cup of tumeric with black pepper olive oil and cider vinegar its not the easiest thing to drink ...you get the picture, plus an occasional scone with spread , No alcohol no sugar biscuits cake ice cream etc etc .
Then I read about a week ago about palm oil and how bad it can be for us, so out went the breaded fish, the bread , the bread rolls everything that had the hint of palm oil.
The trouble is now ive dropped 3 lbs in the last week as my intake of carbs is practilly nil.. although I still have plenty of energy, but also coupled with the lack of carbs has been extra stress as I have 5 friends with various stages of cancer and one this last week is very very ill...
This might be to much info... I saw in the shops some fresh cranberries so for 3 days ive been luiqidising them in the mornings
this has resulted in extra runs to the loo starting at 6 am in the morning, and visits there a few more times during the day, so im stopping those now, which also could be part of the weight loss as they have had quite a bad effect.
Today ive cut out the cranberries , had a chicken slad wrap, my garlic fruit etc etc
So now im looking for advise as to what exactly is a balanced diet for someone living with having kidney cancer....
