  • Hi Netty,

Sorry to read your latest update. I'm in a similar situation to you, so if you feel we can help support each other, post away. I hope you medical team can help sort your pain relief; my palliative care is going well at the moment.

Sending love and a hug, Jo x

  • Hi Netty

How is your current fitness and blood numbers?

    Have you considered clinical trials?

When my wife ran out of options we went to the Royal Marsden to see what they had, they were initially keen because at that point my wife was still pretty fit but unfortunately her blood numbers were not high enough - they're pretty strict about that.

They were pretty straight in tellin us that only about 10% of patients get any real benefit but when you're out of other options 10% starts to sound pretty good.

There's a list of current trials for bowel cancer here:

    www.nhs.uk/.../clinical-trial.aspx

Maybe ask your consultant if he'll look into it for you if he thinks you might be suitable?

  • Hi Netty,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis - I too have been given a terminal diagnosis. I had anal cancer which spread via my lymph to my lungs. Haven't had a scan since August 2015 (when I was given my diagnosis) and I'm not having any further conventional treatment. How are you coping with things generally? I find myself thinking about it all of the time at the moment.

  • Hello Jo,

How are you?  Just to let you know I am thinking of you and sending a hug.

    Take care, God bless.

    Hazel xx

  • Hello Netty and Scoobyville, I have just found your posts while looking for Meerkat, and am so sorry to hear of your diagnoses.  I hope your treatments are giving you both some respite, and send love and best wishes to you both.

    Hazel xx

  • Hi Hazel,

thanks for the hugs and your kind thoughts.

Still having my pain relief tweaked, with evenings being the trickiest! Hope you're ok?

Sending hugs in return, Jo x

also thinking of you Netty amd Scoobyville, how are things for you two? Xx

  • hi Hazel and Meerkat,

    I'm doing pretty well thanks.

I'm on holiday in Spain with my bro. I'm trying 'alternative' remedies and so far, seem to be working. I'm relatively symptom free and have loads of energy so...just enjoying each day as it comes. Let me know if you want any help/advice or just someone to let off steam to,

    love and kisses,

  • Evening Jo, I'm not doing too badly thanks.  So sorry about the not so nice evenings as regards the pain, I really hope your meds soon get sorted properly, you have been through so much.

Do take care, sending my love, Hazel xx

  • Evening Scoobyville,

Glad you are doing okay at the moment, bet the weather's a bit better in Spain than here!  (You're not silly, are you, going away in our so-called Spring!)  Pleased the alternative remedies seem to be helping, long may it continue!

Take care, keep safe, Hazel x
