Chemo sufferer( post mastectomy) hello:)

Hi, my name Is Kirsty, I was diagnosed with breast cancer grade 1 DCIS in July of this year. I had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery of my left breast on the 10th of August and was discharged on the 17th ( my 41st birthday) two days after my birthday I got the news it was in my sentinal lymph node and would require chemo. I now sit here bald, half a stone lighter with sore gritty eyes and gripped by nausea hoping to connect with those going through cancer and especially chemo.

  • Hi Kirsty. I don't normally post on forums, just end up reading them. But it will help speaking to others.

I was diagnosed in July 15 with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer whilst 25 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. I had a single mastectomy 10 days later. My baby was born at 32 weeks by cesarean. I started chemo 3 weeks later at the end of sept. I'm 39.

I had my 2nd round of chemo a week ago.

    Have you started chemo?

I'm not doing too bad on it but do feel scared at times.

It is very common these days and you are definitely not alone xx

  • Hi, thanks for replying to me. Sounds like you have been through an awful lot already..I start my 3rd round on wednesday. I am suffering badly with the side effects and get scared alot at night..I am lucky I have a fab support network and my mum went through the same cancer 8 yrs ago. I just had a bad experience with my first chemo and became neutropenic and was hospitalised for 3 days..being on this forum helps xxx

  • Don't get scared at night. Try and think positive. Whereabouts do you live?
