Chemo for cancer stage b

Hi, I have been advised to have chemo for 6 months after having my tumour removed from my bowel. Fortunately there was no cancer in the blood supply and none in the lymph nodes. Surgeon feels because I am 41 and normally quite fit and healthy I would benefit from some chemo. Has anybody else been at this stage and opted fo chemo?

  • Hi there = nice to meet you. My wife had six months chemo called folfox for her bowel cancer. It was every two weeks we had to go to the hospital for infusions that took about 3 or more hours. Then home to rest. It goes by quickly. She never got to the end and she could couldn't take more than ten infusions. The side effects build up and can be very difficult. Let the onc know everything that happens as these meds are strong  and have to be carefully monitored.

    All the best = steven

  • Thank you very much for replying and your information about Folfox. I have also been offered the tablets which I think I would prefer as I am not keen on needles. I will try it and hopefully carry on as long as possible but I will let the nurses and Oncologist know about the side effects too.  How is your wife now? Was your wife at the same stage? Take care x
