More Bad News

Hi my forum buddies. I got bad news this morning when I had a follow-up with my lung surgeon. The CT scan I had last week shows two new cancers on my lung, just about the same area that I had a cancer removed 2 years ago. We discussed where we go from here and I made it clear that I'm not going through another surgery on my lung, along with all the surgeries I'm having re bladder cancer. She agreed with me that I've been through the mill for the last almost 5 years now and she understands where I'm coming from. She will order a PET scan as that will tell us what else may be going on. Certainly not what I thought I'd hear today as I actually don't feel too bad, other than the awful issues I'm having with this bladder cancer. Besides which, everyone tells me how well I look. I guess looks are deceiving for sure.

  • Hi Lorraine. Sorry about the delayed response. I see you have had your syrgery. Hope the speed of your recovery is improving and you are starting to feel better. My two girls have been a great distraction through out the past months. Helped me to cope with the months of what seemed like never ending recovery after surgery. I'm starting to feel myself again in the past few weeks and I hope you can take some strength in knowing you won't be too far behind me. Best wishes and keep us posted whenever you feel up to it.
  • Dear Lorraine

Keeping you in my thoughts and hoping that you have love and comforting arms around you as you continue your recovery - gentle steps buddy.Hugs  Jules x

  • Hello to all my forum buddies and thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts and support. I t hought it was time I posted an update on my progress to recovery since my surgery. Some of you may have noticed that I have responded to some threads on here as I was so moved by their latest posts, i.e. Jules in the loss of her loving husband and Max's latest news. My heart aches for both of them as they face these new challenges.

As for me, I'm finally starting to feel human again, but still a ways to go. This surgery took a lot out of me this time, but then I expect after so many surgeries over the last 5 years, and the fact that I am getting older, it does take a toll. I am still really weak and having quite a bit of pain still in my ribs, but given how my surgeon got at my lung, its' no wonder. I will see her on Monday, (after a chest X-ray) and she will also have the pathology report then too, so hopefully the news will be good. Once I fully recover from this surgery, then next in line is more surgery for my bladder cancer. I'm really feeling like its' never going to end. Trying to stay alive is becoming quite a challenge.

My partner, Bill, and my good friends have been sent straight from heaven for sure. I would never have made it without them. Thanks to all my supporters on this forum as well, for all the emotional support and encouragement you've given me. I thank God every day that I found this site as it gives all of us dealing with cancer in one way or another, a chance to give and receive support from others on this same road that can get pretty rough at times. Once I get this next report from my surgeon on Monday, I will be sure to let you know the outcome.

Take care everyone. (Hugs given and received!)

  • Hi Lorraine, good to see your name pop onto the forum. Glad you're beginning to feel a little more human, but sorry you're still experiencing pain in your ribs. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good results at your appointment on Monday. I'll be off the radar for a few days as I'm having my lung op on Monday, but will check in later next week to see your latest news. Take care lovely lady and keep getting stronger! Love and hugs, Jo xxx
  • Bless you Lorraine for taking time out to bring us up to date. You have had a gruelling time for sure and its good to know that you have loved ones close by.  Take that love and support with open arms (I know I am) and I  hope you get the best possible news on Monday and can build up your strength to take the next hurdle.  Like you say this forum's support is second to none and many of us would be struggling so much more without virtual companionship on our individual journies. Huge hugs sent your way.  Jules x

  • Hi Jo

Am having a go at posting to you here as internet is causing me a few problems and do not want to lose link.  Just wanted to wish you good vibes for Monday - will hold you in my thoughts (I am confined indoors between 9 -5 that day as they are coming to take away the equipment we had for hubby during his last days).

Hope all goes well for you and that we 'see' you back here when you are good and ready.  Hugs  Jules x
