shadow on apex of right lung

Hi

I started with a cough about 3 weeks ago. I have had no wheeze in my lungs. Dry and unproductive, then productive and green (and in sinuses too) very tickly but not in lungs, in bronchal tubes I guess. Was quite breathless. Given antibiotics and steroids 13/6 and then 2nd course antibiotics 20/6.

I had a chest x-ray this morning and at lunch-time got a call from my doc to say that the radiologist wanted to do a CAT scan.

I know that it is a long way from a cancer diagnosis but I can't get it out of my mind that it might be.

I would appreciate any feedback - support, advice, personal experiences etc.

I understand that it's a wait and see situation but I know there will be people on here that know how I feel.

Thanks for reading this and best wishes to you all.

  • hello 131061

i can share your feelings i guess were all like that we always think of the worst first, yet you couid very well be,worrying

over nothing. my mum had a shadow on her lung that was due to a pleural infection phemionia.

please dont worry, until youve got all your results back, its the waiting of the results that seems

forever, best wishes takecare, from liz.

  • Dear Liz,

Many thanks for your words of kindness and support. I know that some people would think that I am stupid for thinking the way that I do.

I am so glad for you and your mum.

I think what has shocked me is the very prompt response from the radiologist and my doctor.  It has made it all feel very dramatic too.

Also, contacted in that kind of situation means that you can't really discuss anything much. I was contacted by telephone.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Eileen,

As Liz said,  this could just be a very severe chest infection, and as my doctor said to me more than once "don't throw the soap out with the bath water". He actually used a different word to soap, but the moderators would not like me to use the actual word he used.

Eat well, and most of all drink plenty, with a chest infection its essential to drink 3 litres of fluid a day, and think positively. Your worried of course you are, but we are all here for you, and for a chat if you need 24/7!

  • Dear Pat,

Thankyou for your kindness and encouragement.

I actually feel quite well today. I made a decision that I would and it is making a difference.

It is when you are in a situation like this that you realise how many fantastic and kind people there are in the world.

    thanks for your input
