Brain tumour and water on the brain

Hi all

My sister was 4 weeks in to her radio and chemo. She appeared to be doing well, until out of the blue last week fell very very ill. After several tests she has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, water on the brain. This is as a result of her condition. She has had a drain inserted but we will have to wait and see is she needs a shunt. Has anybody else experienced this? I hear it is a complication of having a brain tumour so was looking to see if anybody had gone through it...........

Cheers guys x

  • hi

the shunts are going to work just fine and your sister is going to be well. i don't know details about that but i wish her the best luck and big hugs and kisses. and one for you

  • Unfortunately, after 30+ surgeries for brain cancer, I’ve developed Hydrocephalus as well. In order to allow for CSF to accumulate, and safely drain, I had 3 shunts implanted, as well as several proceedures for malfunctions, complications, etc. I have some serious balance issues that I’ll have for the rest of my life, and use a walker to get around. If I can let you know about anything regarding this condition, let me know. In my experience, hydrocephalus, and its complications can be difficult to manage, but are by no means a death sentence, if treated appropriately.
