Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Cancer in March and although we knew it was Cancer its still a shock to be told it. I have had 2  chemo cycles now and have my 3rd at the end of the month. I would love to chat about the chemo side affects to anyone..

  • Hi Hazel,

Love the new avatar, as I said before the new wig makes you look younger. Very brave attacking the hair, I know it's a difficult thing to do.

Mary had her port fitted and chemo yesterday, we were home by 4.30 but she'd had so many meds she was away with the fairies! I had to help her to the loo in the night, when I brought her back she was trying to get into my side of the bed! Totally zapped!! She is fine again today apart from feeling like she's taken a bullet in her chest, been pottering in the garden again. I have booked a hotel saturday night so we can spend the weekend in Bournemouth, providing she is still feeling ok, it will be great to get away.

Hope everyone else feels better soon, I do get concerned when it goes quiet but I understand how you must feel.

    Best wishes,

    John

  • Thanks, John.

Poor Mary - why was she so zapped, did she have to have a general anaesthetic for insertion of the port?  Hope the pain has abated now.

I did my gardening again yesterday as well, great minds think alike!

Well, looks like you've picked the right weekend for a trip to Bournemouth, John, weather looks set fair, so you have a lovely time both of you - I am quite jealous!

    Love to both,

    Hazel xxx

  • Hi Hazel,

No it was a local anaesthetic but she had quite a lot I think, and it was the pre-meds for the op, then the pre-meds for the chemo, then the chemo itself.

She's fine now, texted me a little while ago saying she's done a bit more gardening and now she's sitting in the pub garden having a drink with our son! Lovely life eh? LOL

    Best wishes,

    John

  • Hello, John,

    Hope you enjoyed Bournemouth.

Is Mary due another chemo session today?  If so, wish her good luck from me xxx

To anybody else having treatment this week, as I am, or awaiting results etc, hope all goes well.

Everyone else, hope you are feeling as well as poss and able to enjoy the lovely weather.

    Love to all, Hazel xxx

  • Dear Hazel,

Good luck with your results, when do you get them ? I have my chemo again tomor after a weeks break. It is my 4th so not many left now. Then the dreaded scan and results.

Hope Jaxkie you are doing ok after your chemo ( you are lying low so prob not too good )

Weather has been great but it was only yesterday that I actually went out and that was to my daughters for half an hour.

    Love to everyone else. xxxxxx

  • Hello, Eileen,

I guessed you were still not too good ( maybe same as Jackie, as you say), but glad you were able to have a little trip yesterday at least.

I am having 2nd chemo session tomorrow, blood result permitting.  I'll think of you having yours while I'm having mine!  Good luck!

    Love Hazel xxx

  • Hi Hazel and Eileen,

Yes we had a lovely sunny weekend in Bournemouth, Mary said it's just what the doctor ordered and she is still feeling pretty good. We stayed 2 nights and came back on Monday.

Mary's chemo is tomorrow too, so that's three of you. It was only Weds last week because she had the port fitted and had to go on the ward rather than the chemo suite. Next week she has a break.

It has been very quiet on here lately, I hope everyone will be feeling a bit better soon.

    Best wishes,

    John

  • Hi Sharon,

I know exactly what you mean. I have 3 more chemo's then scan and results and I am worrying already. I feel for me that if this doesn't work then nothing will as it's the top one apparently. Plus I feel for myself that I don't want anymore of this feeling awful for months on end.  I know deep down that it isn't working and I am not being negative just realistic.

I will be thinking about you tomor and I pray it is good news.

Everyone else chemo day again so we will all be feeling rough over next few days....

    Love Eileen. xxxx
