Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Cancer in March and although we knew it was Cancer its still a shock to be told it. I have had 2  chemo cycles now and have my 3rd at the end of the month. I would love to chat about the chemo side affects to anyone..

  • Hi ladies

I just want to wish you all a Happy and as Healthy a New Year as possible - bring on 2012.

Its good to drop in and see what others are up to - scan and more treatment (fingers crossed!) in January for me.

    Best wishes

  • Hello everybody, may I join you and introduce myself?  I opened a new thread on this subject the other day in the "introduce yourself" section, but I really wanted to get onto this site.  I  am 67 yo and live in Essex, UK and have recently been diagnosed as having tumours on both ovaries, plus some areas on the omentum and outer bowel.  However, my hospital MDT  wants to ascertain whether my ovaries are the primary site or secondary to breast ca I had 15 years ago before planning my treatment, so I've just had a biopsy and await results on 22nd Feb.  I found your site about a month ago and was both heartened by all your posts, and at the same time scared - not of the treatment particularly but the outcome.  Some days I feel that I won't get through this, other days I think "No, you won't get me, you (expletive deleted!)"

The last post on your site was 28th Dec, I have been checking, so I hope you are all getting along OK

    Best wishes, Hazel. X

  • Hi Sharon,

yes we got the photo on the night and it is really nice, I'm tempted to scan it and put in my profile.

    Hazel,

Sorry to hear you're still having problems, hopefully the next lot of chemo may help. No need to apologize for not posting, everyone understands how you feel.

    Best wishes to all,

    John

  • Hi Sharon,

Have scanned and uploaded the family pic, and it's been approved. Our two boys are far left and right, our daughter is next to me. Our youngest insisted on wearing his Mum's Daffodil pin, so I wore mine too even though we were supporting a different charity.

Good luck tomorrow, will keep my fingers crossed for the 29th, all the waiting makes it worse.

Hope everyone else is feeling better soon.

    John

  • Hi, John,

I'm still feeling a bit rough, but I just had to send a quick message to say what a super, happy photo!  One to treasure, and Mary looks really lovely - well you all look good really, but Mary particularly so given what she's going through.

    Love to all,

    Hazel xxx

  • Hi All.

Not sure what I have missed or what I have told you as I have been so poorly again. My sickness has at last eased off and that is such a releif. I am still having the bowel trouble and I can't do anything while I am like this. Everytime I move I have to run to the loo and a watery clear jelly comes out. I have been taking my laxatives but they are giving me stomach cramps so have stopped them and will carry on with the prunes ect.. If it's not one thing it's another.

I will try  and catch up with blog today. I think Hazel, Jackie, Mary are all having chemo ??? Sharon I think you are going for scan or results. ? Laura, Dot, I think are ok..... Anyway glad to be back on site and feeling so much better.... It is funny how ill and low we can get and the bounce back....

    Love as always Eileen. xxxxx

  • Lovely photo John, glad the  night went well. Hope you feel better soon Haze. Good luck with ct scan Judy.

    take care

    Jackie xx

  • Eileen, I'm so pleased to see you back, have been thinking of you a lot.  Sorry you have to go through all this each week, I feel ill enough and I've only had one so far - I'm already sick of stomach pain and feeling sick, so gawd knows how you and the others must feel!

Jackie, thanks, hope you're getting through yours from Fri OK?

    Sharon, hope ct goes OK.

    Love to all, Hazel xxx

  • Jackie, I meant to ask, how often is your new chemo?  I like to keep track of everyone so I can send love and say good luck!

  • Hi Sue,

I have been trying to catch up on blogs and came across that you are nuetropinia ? I  had it right from the start with all the chemo's I have had. The worst was carmo / taxol. Dare I say this time I seem to be getting away with it  but getting other things.

I will read some more and hopefully get some more info ...

    Love always Eileen xxxxx

  • Hi Jackie xxxx

What chemo are you on now ? I have been trying to find out but so much has happened since my break... My hair should start to come out this week....All the Drs think I am mad as I have said I love it.. You feel so clean..  I am looking at trying to book a week in Dorset in May but because of the way the chemo can take us then I am not sure. I should take a leaf out of John and Mary's book and just plan and book it. This is the thing that annoys me, not being able to plan such a small thing like a break away..

Anyway hope you are feeling good and the chemo is not too hard.

    Love always Eileen xxxxxx

  • Hi Eileen, nice to see you back in the land of the living, I'm on carbo/Doxitol same as last time, was ok till yesterday then really light headed and vague feeling (probably normal for me but) not feeling brilliant, still getting stomach pains which leave me not being able to move, strange as it sounds, they seem to come on with movement which is leaving me very limited! Have a CT tom, routine as didn't have one pre-chemo (last was about 9 months ago) not looking forward to it as don't feel i've recovered enough from the chemo, the thought of sitting around for most of the day is not thrilling me lol. Don't think I can drive that far so friend is picking me up at 1.30ish, appointment not till 5.40 and then have to wait for friend to finishing work at 7.30 ah well gotta be done I suppose.

Haze, my chemo is every 3 weeks, so next due 30th though in pending tray as no room yet lol

    Take care all

    Jackie xx

  • Jackie, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, if I'd had to go anywhere feeling as I've been feeling for last 4/5 days I don't know what I'd have done!   Hope you manage to get through it OK.  Have you got to drink the large flask of radioactive muck (or whatever it is) ?  Oh my god, poor you!

I am beginning to recover now, thank goodness, but was beginning to think sickness and cramps would never go.

    Take care,

    love Hazel xxx
