  • Hi everyone,

the sun is shining - and for all of us with hot flushes - not too hot ! I wanted to tell you ladies (and gents out there) that someone passed on some info to me recently regarding a new shampoo. It is supposedly formulated ALL NATURAL to help hair grow.  I thought I'd try some as my hair after 8 months is just an inch and a half long.  After 9 days of using it, i can see a difference - i can actaully 'style' my hair! it is only a small amount of growth, and whether it is the shampoo - or the fact that it is used daily so the scalp gets 7 good massages a week - i can't say. But I can say that it is also not overly expensive, months supply of shampoo and conditioner from 12 squids ! And my hair is growing faster!!!

the shampoo is called FAST - you will find it easily.  I bought it because it's natural firstly, second gentle, and third it could work! Well as i said, i don't know if it is the massage or the shampoo but something is happening - i can brush my carpet like hair now and it doesn't just stand up like that on a loo brush!

I just wanted to ask too, if anyone  else out there bruises easily after all the treatment, I find I do - especailly the hands - and oh gosh the dry feet ! I am so glad to be feeling more like myself but every now and then I get the niggles like looking at the grey and ginger in my hair- waiting for it to grow and so on.

I'd love to know how you are all getting on, so please everyone, come and say hi and give us an update. We have been through so much together, and i know we think about each other often - so lets get back to chatting and remember our friends together for the good things they gave us and not for the sad loss that we all feel. We were blessed to be touched by someone who kept us going even when things were not looking good for herself. Let's carry on that legacy - come say hi and let us all know how you are doing. I bet I am not the only one here who misses the chats, let's not leave anyone feeling lonely, Rose and Lou would be kicking our butts big time if we did.

    Love sara

  • Sooooo what are you all up to this weekend....let us know what is pulling you back...like I am lazing about in bed as just had chemo yesterday and although I am okay I am washed out....and seeing as I am a bowel cancer suffered I shouldn't even be here :-)

My bestes love and wishes to you all.

  • Hey Tony,

Sorry you're feeling rather crap, remember it well, so sending you some sunshine, some smiles and a huge hug, and lots of love too as you are always keeping our spirits up when we are down.  Our love and best wishes are always with you, just wish i could make you feel better. xxxx

Ladies, I am sorry I can't help with your type of chemo, mine was FEC but I do know the type of chemo is related to type of cancer, your health and lots of other factors, but I found it helpful to look up the type of chemo on the net - reputable sites only - and just take the key elements as everyone reacts differently. Perhaps as more of us come back and chat after our sad news there will be someone who can answer your questions. And there will always be support here for you in one way or another.

I have had a real busy week - my daughter got told on Tuesday she would be moving on Friday, and so what with viewing, signing tenancies, getting keys, arranging a move - lugging stuff up and down stairs, watching two kids, I was damn glad saturday was over and was looking forward to a restful saturday night and sunday.   Oh no .... not to be, my eldest daughter decided to come up from Kent, with no warning (not that I mind really) with her two little ones, and she arrived half hour after the other two grandchildren had gone home. Today, I had all four grandchildren, both my daughters, my neice, her son and my nephew, and a friend with her two little ones too.  Oh boy people, this glass of wine is like nectar and i am making the most of it as tomorrow looks like a hetic one too! You should see the state of my house and garden - and I have to take little one to school in the morning as mum doesn't know how to get there from her new house.

Leonie, Nina how you both doing ? And not forgetting the rest of you lovely ladies, come say hi and give us the gossip - i can't be the only one - I'll run out of things to say!

    Love to you all

  • Hi Tony,

of course you should be here on this page, what would we do without you? I've had a lovely weekend, thankfully up here in Scotland we've had shunshine this weekend, which makes a change, so been outdoors all weekend, gardening, bbq and went to the park for a game of baseball. Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, I've not been on here so much recently, I feel bad about that as I was never off this site when I was going through my chemo and there was always somebody on to give me good advice and now we have some new women on here who need my advice and Ive neglected them, so if anyone needs any advice, I'll def try and help if I can.

Sara, glad you had a lovely weekend with your family, hope the rest of you gals are doing well.

    Speak soon. Col xxx

  • Hi Maki, sorry youve joined our forum under these circumstances, it just isn't fair, glad you have a supportive partner, as you're gonna need as much support as you can get, and we're here too to answer any questions you have, hopefully you'll get through this treatment without any hitches, I personally was fine, just tired, the worst thing for me was the hair loss, which is so vain but true, now my hair is as thick as anything, good luck with the op.

Leonie we all know how close you were to Lou and its understandable that youve not been posting for a while, losing Rose has been awful for all as girls, but the new girlos need the upbeat and lovely leonie, speak soon babe xxx

  • Hi everyone, firstly may I apologise for my outburst, the other day, It just seemed so unfair and indeed still does, but reading all your posts reminds me that this would not be what Rose would have wanted, we have new people here that need our help and Im siting around feelin sorry for myself, so once again I do apologise and to you  Maki a very warm welcome, this is a scary time and noone will blame you for having your fears, but.....

I myself finished my chemo in October 2010 and was back in work full time in January, never a day goes by that I dont thank the lord that I am still here with my sanity still intact, which incidently is largely due to these wonderful ladies and gents on here the truth is Maki there are many thousands of men and women that survive cancer every day thanks to the advancement in medicine, whatever your concerns dont hesitate to talk to us and you will get good sound advice and support whenever you need it, day or night.

Warm thoughts to you and everyone else

    lots of love Lee xx

we have helped each other thru all our treatment and then we had the terrible loss of Lou and Rose which has set us all back because we were such a team .

But we have beaten this at least for now !!so we need to live to the full and we need to carry on what Lou and Rose did and help support others like they did us xxx

  • Good Morning to all
Thank you for your kind words and support-God do I need it.
When I was told I got bc the first thing I thought was I can't leave my kiddies. Next morning I was numb. Looking on the Internet for more info  I just got more scared, I am glade I joined this site, I had few replays and I must say they make me feel positive and reading the posts helps a lot.
Now I would like to say a few words about me- I am sorry if I am disturbing or being boring but I thought we will be here for a while so I may as well properly introduce myself.
Originally I am from Macedonia, been married to my lovely hubby Jason for 10 years, been in UK for more then 14 y.
I live in Leicestershire near Market Harborough *if anyone is close I would love to meet for a drink*
My family are back home in Macedonia. Here I got my hubby, my two boys and my father in law. I haven't told my family that I have c because my mum is not very well and I know that this would kill her. So here I am, screaming wanting to tell them but I can't. I speak to them at least three times a week and trying to sound like old me -happy and when i put the phone down I can't stop crying.
Today I had my pre ***. Tomorrow I will meet the surgeon and on Thursday I hope this s**t will be taken out.
Once again thank you to all who took time to read and replay and sorry If I bothered you with my long post and bad spelling '-))
I wish you all a very good day and no doubt I will be login in latter on again.

  • Hello to you all beautiful people....

Strange as it sound but I feel quite ok today. More like my self. I just got back from meeting the surgeon who will operate on Thursday. I must say I can't wait to have this crap out of me.

I hope you all had a good day today, the rain is slowly creeping but I dont mind. The day was lovely, worm and sunny. Hubby was the one responsible for feeding us tonight so we had pizza, chips and green salad with feta cheese yummy. The kiddies are in bed watching Horid Henry.  I will watch tv for a bit and then getting ready for work tomorrow.

How was your day today? What did you do?

    PS

I came across this song and I thought I should share it with you

What a beautiful day, I'm the King of all time

and nothing is impossible in my all powerful mind

    Love to you all

    Mxxxx

  • Hi Maki

glad you're feeling positive today, let me introduce myself, I'm Colette or Col to my friends, I'm 46 with 2 grown up daughters of 23 and 21, I had a lumpectomy in May 2010, 6 sessions of chemo then 7 weeks of radio and ive been back at work since beginning of march, I have a very supportive partner, dont get me wrong this last year certainly took its toll on our relationship but we're back to normal now and im feeling very well, I also had all lymph nodes removed, I also am on Tamoxifen which is a pain as its put me into an early menopause, so the hot flushes are a pain.

Positive mental attitude, good luck with op, ask anything you want and i'll try and answer xxx

  • Hi Col,

Thank you for joining my little world, well not so little now after having all this briliant people on line to talk to.

I am very happy to hear that you are feeling well. Like you I am also lucky to have my hubby who is very supportive. My kiddies are 8 and 5 still little to understand what is going on, saying that I explained to CJ what is happening but he knows that mummy will be ok.

I am positive but I do have my low moments. I just hope and pray that the c didnt spread.

Have a lovely day and I hope we will stay in touch

  • Hi Everyone,

I had my follow up today and yup - tamoxifin. Not looking forward to taking them but as border line 4/8 i am going to give them a try. The doctor i saw today was really really lovely  and there was nothing clinical about my visit, which made it so much easier for me. I have been thinking a lot lately about the things that I went through, physically and emotionally and realised that it really is a journey. So, welcome Maki to our wonderful world of journiers, where through anger tears and frustration you will find the hidden pockets of the most warm, beautiful people who will help you to reach the other side.

Maki, when my grandaughter (5) wanted to know why nanny was unwell, we tried to explain it in a different way to the norm. We pressed hard on her arm and told her that pressure can hurt. We then showed her a caterpillar wrapped in its pupus and told her that nanny had a sort of caterpillar that was trying to make a nest. The nest was not nice to have inside and if it grew it would press harder on nannys chest so the doctor had to take it away.  With regards to the chemo, we told her that the medicine to stop the 'sort of' caterpillar making more nests, would make nannys hair come our becasue the caterpillar thing likes making the nest with hair. And the good thing was that when the caterpillar had gone, the hair would come back, and that's how we would all know that nanny was okay.  It was the same priniciple for rd safety. We used to tell the kids that if they were silly enough to go into the road there was a chance they would be hit by a car. We told them not all broken things can e fixed and we didn't want them to be all broken and have to go in the dusbin for the dustman.  Guess who NEVER goes in the road haha!

You will find your way  I promise, even when there are times you wonder how that can be possible. Just accept though, that all of your feelings are normal, highs lows and everything in between, and accept them for what they are, a journey and come see us when you need support or a moan or even jsut a scream or laugh.

Lots of love to you all

    sara xxxxxxxxxxxx
