Skin cancer

Hi everyone. I’m posting here because I just found out yesterday that I’m at high risk for melanoma after previously having 2 BCC's and dealing with other risk factors. I am feeling completely overwhelmed and teary. I couldn't sleep last night because my mind is racing. I’m just looking for a safe space where people understand how terrifying the first few days of this news can feel."

Most of us on this forum will understand exactly how you are feeling right now. To move on from this try to find the good aspects of your situation. You have had 2 BCCs removed and cured. You do not currently have a melanoma and as you will be checking your skin regularly you will spot and report any changes immediately. Melanomas caught early have 95% cure rate. You can be proactive in preventing future skin cancers by wearing a hat, sunglasses, covering up, sunscreen and avoiding sun 11.00 to 15.00. You likely already do this. The future is bright for you, get on with living and enjoy yourself.
