Inflammatory breast cancer

Hi,

Today I was told my punch biopsy came back positive,  meaning the breast cancer has gone into my skin. Consultant didnt use the word "inflammatory" but did say this makes me more urgent...I was diagnosed 27th May but still waiting for treatment plan...they did say chemo first though. Be good to chat with anyone who has gone through/ is going through similar as I'm feeling very wobbly today x

  • Hi Mothergoose, how did you get on with your chemo on Tuesday?

    Lee x

  • Hi Lee,

Chemo went well thanks although certainly feeling the side effects now. Nausea, stomach cramps, fatigue but knew they were coming so just have to ride with them. My daughter shaved my head today, so another hurdle overcome.

    How are you doing?

    Julie x

  • Hi Julie,

Welcome to "skinheads" and well done you for taking this leap! I am sorry to hear that you are suffering side-effects from the chemo. Did you get given something for nausea or upset stomach. If you didn't, make sure to ask for something at your next chemo session. If you did and it's not effective, let the nurses know and they can give you something else. Not all medications work for everyone, it may be a case of perservering until you find one that works for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

Thanks and yes I was given meds for the side effects which I take sooner rather than later....pretty sure I rattle when I walk lol. X

  • Hi Julie,

Just make sure to let the nurses know that the medicine you were given doesn't work for you. This is a common problem and they're used to it. I still rattle 16 years on from diagnosis!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Julie,  glad that your chemo went well.  My husband shaved my head, nobody told me my scalp would be painful when my hair started falling out, the pain went away when my head was shaved.  I was told to take the nausea tablets regularly even if I didn't feel sick.  This seemed to work as it wasn't too bad.  Try and stick with your normal daily routine when having chemo.  My friend told me this (she had breast cancer the year before me)  and this really helped me feel a bit more in control.  I did a walk every day and went out for meals etc.  Maybe sometimes shorter walks but I did what I could when I could.  One day at a time.  When is your next chemo?

    Lee x

  • Hi Lee. Thanks for the advice, totally agree re normal routine where poss. Feeling pretty rough today though. Been slightly sick, dodgy stomach etc. I'm taking the tablets though. Just feeling drained. Next chemo is 30th July...hope i don't feel this rough till then.....

Yep, one day at a time.  Thanks for checking in xx
