Cancer in bones - how do you cope with the increasing pain?

Hi bone-cancer-patient I wonder if you have any tips about dealing with bone cancer. Ive got metastatic squamous cell cancer which has spread to my bones and spine amongst other places. In particular how to cope with increasing pain. Also in your opinion is it better to be very careful of affected bones to avoid fractures  or is it better to continue normal weight bearing exercise in order to strengthen the muscles which support the bones.

Hoping you are well

  • Regarding the exercise for my type of cancer I found light intensity exercise better. I did lots of my exercise sitting down. There was a therapeutic gym at hospital and I was also offered aqua therapy at a pool closer to home as well. Ask your medical team what options would work best for you however. They can give you more advice and support on that matter in question. Good luck.

  • HI again

Do you know I hadnt thought to ask the oncology team about excercise given that Ive got fractures in my spine and shoulder. Ive never been to a gym and I dont like pools so any excercise has to be outdoors so I walk and do gardening and some stretching early morning. Ill ask them next week when Im at the hospital. Thanks
