Life with cancer - getting more emotional and frustrations with appointments

  1. Emotions are nearer the surface than before.  Am finding getting weepy far easier, dogs on the C4 programme 'The Dog House'.  Articles, books, news broadcasts
  2. Appointments.  Had a phone call at 14:30 last Thursday from the hospital.  Where are you?  I said why.  You have an appointment.  I said no I haven't.  Apparently it was at 14:00.  I knew nothing about it.  No phone call, email, letter nothing.  The medical team at the hospital are excellent  doctors nurses xray ct staff etc.  Admin - one hospital so many different ways of making an appointment.  One dept - phone email on line notification.  Another uses phone and letter  they say don't email.  Another a letter out of the blue for an appointment in June but no reason why on the letter.  Then this last one.  If they could phone to ask why I wasnt there why couldn't they phone to let people know in the first place!  One hospital seemingly without any joined up admin support.

  • I can relate! I’m technically now ‘cancer free’ after my surgeries and chemo, and so I thought I could finally start getting back to some sort of normality. I seem to be at the hospital every week for one thing or another. I see a different person each time, sometimes have to go to an entirely different hospital. Now I’m on tablets, injections and infusions for the next ten years and it feels exhausting and never ending!

  • I hear you.

we are getting good at keeping people alive, but there is a black hole in actual "care" afterwards.
our bodies have been brutalised by treatment internally and we have no sound intel on why or what can be done to reverse it
