CLL - finding it difficult to stay positive with this diagnosis. Can anyone help?

Hi lovely people,

I have been diagnosed with CLL just before Christmas. I have been concentrating on loosing weight as I was pre-diabetic something I can control. I find it really difficult to stay positive with the diagnoses. Has anybody else have these problems? Any idea how to deal with it?

  • Hi MrsMarpel,

I hope you are getting on as OK as can be - I'm sure this must all be difficult to deal with. It's OK to not feel positive all the time - it can be tough at times.

Try to focus on activities you enjoy where possible - and speaking to others, as it often helps to talk.

We are of course always here for support on the forum whenever you may need it. My reply here will give your post a little boost, so a few more people should see it - and hopefully you'll get more replies from others.

From the homepage of the forum you can use the search bar to find other relevant discussions and people to connect with, if you'd like to.

There are also other support options if ever you'd like to explore them, such as local Maggie's centres.

We have pages on our website on coping physically, coping practically, and mental health and cancer - some of which may be helpful.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hello Mrs Marpel,

So good to find someone else on here that has CLL. I got diagnosed about a year and a half ago. God! I have cried so much, and still do (We need the emotional release Marpel. I am doing the same as you at the moment :Trying to lose weight, like you said it is nice to have something we have control of.

I also find it difficult to be positive after being diagnosed with CLL. I have managed to have some Counselling with the NHS, this has just finished now after about a year. It did help, but more for other things that being diagnosed with Cancer brings up. I do keep the Samaritans number handy which is 116 113 (24 hours a day.) I have found them helpful, it is in confidence, and you get a new Samaritan answering everytime you call.  I have just started a Can Move exercise group (Which is cancer related, and everyone that goes to the classes has a different type of cancer. Your cancer Haematology at the hospital can help you there.

I do feel tired, and have lumps on my neck (to do with the Lymphatic fluids.)

So good to see your chat on here Mrs Marpel x
