Have you spoke with McMillan nurses or a hairdresser they maybe able to guide you in the right direction. Luckily when I had chemo I didn’t lose my hair hopefully you maybe the same.but nevertheless.

Hi Me-and-the-big-C  sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  I had chemo for breast cancer.  It takes two weeks from your first chemo for your hair to start falling out.  My hospital recommended a wig shop that I went to.  I tried on various wigs and when I picked one, they cut it for me.  Definitely get synthetic hair not real hair.  The synthetics ones are so much easier you just rinse them, leave them to dry and no need to style.  I also found my scalp was tender when hair was falling out and so much better when it was shaved off.  I found that a silk pillowcase also helped, it is cooling as well.  Good luck with your appointment today and hopefully Macmillan will point you in the right direction.

Hi Lee, thank you so much for your reply. I popped into the Macmillan room today but they didn't have any info so I'll ask thr nurses at my next oncology appointment on Weds. 

Thank you for the fab advice. I'll look into synthetic ones and the silk pillowcases. I hadn't even thought of that!

Hi Rachel,  I think going to try the wig on is important as so hard to choose online.  I found the best pillowcase is the Blissy one but it is very expensive.  Good luck tomorrow and for starting chemo on Thursday.  I hope your hospital allows someone to sit with you, I found it comforting for someone to be with me. Big hugs.

Thank you, I'll look into the pillowcase and yes, I agree, trying on wigs would be a very good idea too. Also just having someone there who knows what they are talking about to help me fit it properly etc.
