Living with cancer and being harassed to retire.

I just wanted to know if there is anyone out there who is being harassed and discriminated against because they have cancer.

  • Hi M4327,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Can you please tell us a little more about the type and stage of cancer you have and the discrimination that you are experiencing, before we can pass comment?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Previous stage 4 cancer, now returned to early stages elsewhere. I had to remove myself from a toxic and humiliating environment toxic environment in work where they are still harassing me because of my cancer, to retire.

This resonated really strongly for me.  I have stage 4 cancer and worked for the DWP for 21 years.  I was basically forced to take retirement because of the cancer.  This is meant to be a disability friendly employer.

  • Hi Leelaloo,

I am so sorry this happened to you. I am deeply saddened that mine is not an isolated case.  DWP appear to have acted illegally in forcing you out.  What they present themselves to be is far removed from what lies behind the mask.  I am so shocked by what they did to you.  How did you cope, the hatred and harassment for me got so bad that I legally removed myself under Health and Safety. I do hope you are okay, happy to talk anytime. xx

  • Thank you, Jolamine. It is a living hell for me right now. I have never encountered such hatred because of my illness, which is a disability.
