Questions to ask if it’s confirmed I have cancer

I had a womb biopsy done last month, and yesterday I received a call where they booked an appt for Monday. I believe they are going to say I have cancer. Does anyone have an idea of the type of questions to ask so that I get a clear plan of action to deal with it.

  • Hello Cherio

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns that resulted in a womb biopsy being needed. Hopefully the team will be able to give you some clear answers and reassurance when you see them on Monday.

In terms of the types of questions you might want to ask, I'd suggest having a chat with one of our team of nurses before you're appointment if your'e able to. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can as well as talking through some of the questions you might want to raise on Monday. If you'd like to talk to them, they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Cherio I don't have womb cancer but breast cancer.  I just wanted to say good luck for your appointment on Monday.  It is a good idea to take someone with you., my husband always comes with me for the oncology appointments as he remembers things and also asks things that I forget.  Good luck and please let me know how you get on tomorrow.

  • Sorry to hear this. I’ve been through my own cancer journey for breast cancer. I found it helpful to ask about whats next in term of the treatment plan and timeline for things. I found in the whole mess it was reassuring to have a plan. I found it was helpful long term to not actually ask too many questions that I knew would cause stress and worry.
Hopefully whatever news you do get you will be given information. If you do get a diagnosis it’s helpful to ask who to contact if you have more questions after your appointment. Best of luck with your appoint

Hi all, back from appt and been told I have endometrial hyperplasia atypical at the upper end with a focal point bordering stage 1 .  They are telling me the gold standard treatment is a hysterectomy, I’ll have an MRI in the next couple of weeks and they’ll be able to work out how big it is. I don’t really want a hysterectomy I’d prefer to have a coil and go back for biopsy’s every so often as it could return to normal.  I’m rather confused on the best course of action.

I’ve also been referred to breast clinic with an appt on the 1st Dec as I have a few lumps in the one.

Very confused on what decision to make.
